Seolhyun won a modeling contest in 2010, which paved the way for her to the entertainment world. In July 2012, she debuted with the South Korean girl group AOA (a.k.a. Ace of Angels) with the single album Angel’s Story. In 2015, they released their self-titled debut Japanese studio album, which was followed by another major Japanese release in 2016 with the album Runway. In 2017, they dropped their first official Korean full-length album titled Angel’s Knock, which peaked at number three on the Gaon Album Chart.


Seolhyun landed her first acting role in the hit 2012 KBS2 series My Daughter Seo-young, which was followed by a main role in the 2013 SBS daily drama Watch Out for Fools. In 2015, she made her big screen debut in the action noir film Gangnam Blues, which scored her several Best New Actress wins and nominations. That same year, she starred in KBS2’s Orange Marmalade, opposite Yeo Jin-gu. Her work in the series won her the Popularity Award at the KBS Drama Awards. In 2017, she appeared in the action thriller film Memoir of a Murderer, which earned her a Best New Actress nomination at the inaugural The Seoul Awards. In 2019, she joined the main cast of JTBC’s My Country: The New Age. In 2020, she acted alongside Namgoong Min in the tvN series Awaken.


Seolhyun attended Kyung Hee University. She briefly dated Block B’s Zico.
