Shim Hyung-tak made his acting debut in the MBC drama Reservation for Love in 2002 and has since appeared in numerous TV series. In 2009, he was nominated for Best Actor in a One-Act/Special/Short Drama at the KBS Drama Awards for his work in an episode of Hometown Legends. In 2012, he starred in the hit KBS2 family drama My Daughter Seo-young, which logged a peak viewership rating of 47.6 percent. In 2013, he landed a main role in the first installment of tvN’s Let’s Eat franchise. In 2015, he received a Star Award at the 9th Cable TV Broadcasting Awards for his performance in the KBS N romance drama Miss Mamma Mia. In 2016, he scored an Excellence Award nomination at the 30th KBS Drama Awards for the family series Five Kids. In 2019, he played a divorce lawyer in the tvN romantic comedy Reach of Sincerity, which won him an Excellence Award at the 27th Korea Culture and Entertainment Awards.
