Shin Dong-mi began her acting career on stage and later debuted on TV in the 2001 MBC sageuk Sangdo. In 2006, she landed her first big screen appearance in the film Don’t Look Back. In 2012, she starred in then first-time director Lee Kwang-kook’s comedy-drama film Romance Joe. In 2014, she reunited with Lee in another comedy-drama film titled A Matter of Interpretation, which earned her a Best Actress nomination at the 3rd Wildflower Film Awards. In 2015, she joined the cast of the MBC romantic comedy She Was Pretty, which gave her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the MBC Drama Awards. In 2017, she took home a Golden Acting Award at the MBC Drama Awards for Father, I’ll Take Care of You. In 2019, she became part of KBS2’s What’s Wrong Mr. Poong-sang, which won her Best Supporting Actress at the KBS Drama Awards.


Shin Dong-mi studied theater at Dankook University. In 2014, she married musical actor and singer Heo Gyu.
