Uhm Tae-gu started his acting career in the 2007 horror film Epitaph. He then made appearances in the KBS2 drama Love Marriage and the tvN series Detective Mr. Lee in 2008. In 2015, he landed a main role in the movie Coin Locker Girl, which was the Jury’s Choice for Feature Film at the 19th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. He also scored Best Supporting Actor nominations at the 24th Buil Film Awards and the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards for his work in the movie. In 2016, he became part of the period action thriller The Age of Shadows, which won him Best Supporting Actor at the 53rd Grand Bell Awards and the 37th Golden Cinema Film Festival. In 2020, he was named Best Actor at the 7th Wildflower Film Awards for his performance in the movie My Punch-Drunk Boxer. In 2021, he led the crime drama film Night in Paradise, which earned him a Best Actor nomination at the 30th Buil Film Awards.


Uhm Tae-gu graduated from Konkuk University’s Department of Film Arts. His older brother Uhm Tae-hwa is a South Korean film director and screenwriter.
