Yoo Teo moved to Seoul in 2009 to pursue an acting career and has since appeared in a number of films and TV series. In 2017, he became part of the Thai movie The Moment, which won him Best Supporting Actor at the 15th Starpicks Thai Film Awards. In 2018, he played Soviet rock musician Victor Tsoi in the Russian musical movie Leto, which took home the Cannes Soundtrack Award at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. His performance in the movie also scored him the Best New Actor trophy at the 26th Korea Cultural Entertainment Awards. In 2019, he starred in the South Korean romance drama film Vertigo, in which he was named Best New Actor at the 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards. In 2020, he was cast in a supporting role in Netflix’s The School Nurse Files.


Yoo Teo married Korean artist Nikki Lee in 2007. He loves playing basketball and dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player but had to give it up due to an injury. He studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in the United Kingdom. He is fluent in Korean, English, and German.
