Yoo Young-jae debuted with the South Korean boy group B.A.P in 2012 with the song Warrior from their first single album of the same name. Warrior debuted at number 10 on Billboard’s World Albums Chart and peaked at number three on the Gaon Album Chart. In February 2014, the group released their debut Korean studio album called First Sensibility. Later that year, the group filed a lawsuit against their agency to nullify their contract over alleged unfair working conditions and profit distribution. Both parties eventually reached a settlement. In 2016, B.A.P dropped their first Japanese full-length album titled Best. Absolute. Perfect. In 2019, Yoo Young-jae established his own label J World Entertainment, which was followed by the release of his debut solo extended play Fancy.


Yoo Young-jae made his acting debut as the male lead of the 2018 JTBC web series Kim Is a Genius. That same year, he appeared in the KBS2 drama 9.9 Billion Won Woman. In 2020, he became part of the hit tvN fusion sageuk Mr. Queen. In 2021, he played a supporting character in KBS2’s Police University. In 2022, he landed his first big screen role in the movie Sing a Song.
