Yuri debuted with the South Korean girl group Girls’ Generation in August 2007. Also known as SNSD, they earned the nickname “The Nation’s Girl Group” in their home country due to their achievements and popularity. In 2017, they were honored as the top K-pop girl group of the past decade by Billboard. In 2018, Yuri released her first solo extended play titled The First Scene, which debuted at number two on the Gaon Album Chart and also reached number 10 on Billboard’s World Albums chart.


Yuri made her official acting debut as one of the main leads in the 2012 SBS series Fashion King, which won her the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards and the Most Popular Actress trophy at the 49th Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2014, she received another Baeksang Most Popular Actress citation for her starring role in the sports film No Breathing. In 2017, she acted alongside Ji Sung in the SBS legal drama Defendant, which earned her an Excellence Award nomination at the SBS Drama Awards. In 2018, she starred in the first and second seasons of the KBS2 sitcom The Sound of Your Heart: Reboot. In 2021, she was paired with Jung Il-woo in the hit MBN sageuk Bossam: Steal the Fate.


Yuri graduated from Chung-Ang University with a degree in theater and film. She was previously in a relationship with professional baseball player Oh Seung-hwan.
