Viki now has more simulcast kdramas due to their Kocowa deal. However, subs are fanmade still and can be capricious. DF pays people to sub so they come out immediately when the episode is released. But, they have fewer simulcast kdramas. So it’s 50/50 really. I pay for both and am unsatisfied with both 😩
I did both for a while, then neither had dramas I was wanting so I eventually dropped both…
but now the bootleg sites keep making my computer crash, so I think I’ll need to start paying again… 😑
Personally, I have Viki (I can’t access Dramafever). I’ve been pretty happy with it but I’ve never really used any other streaming site for dramas. I’ve watched a few kdramas on Netflix but their subs are horrible. Viki is much better than that.
Yeah, I’m just bummed you have to pay for Viki… I remember when you could watch the raw episode without commercials for free while it was being subbed (after a certain percent of subbing ads were added in). Those were the days…
It has Just Between Lovers with the standard pass. It also has Jugglers and I Am Not a Robot but those are on Pass Plus so you either have to wait several weeks or watch it within the first 24 hours of when it is broadcast (usually subs aren’t complete). I’m not sure what other currently airing shows they have. I’ve been watching Just Between Lovers and I Am Not A Robot. The subs for IANAR are usually 70% or higher within the first 24 hours so I feel like I catch most of it and what I don’t catch I get from the recap.
Huh, you can watch Pass Plus in first 24 hours? That’s very good to know ~ thanks for the pro tip!
I think I am going to go with Viki again, they have Hwayugi.
I’d recommend to others that they try the free trials for both (not at the same time) to see what features they like also that they check the calendar for when their dramas are airing/which service they will be on.
Usually I choose one service at a time but lately the dramas I want to see or catch up on have been split between both services. I’ll probably do the switches again in 2018.
If you have an idea of what shows both you & your sister want to watch then it can help you figure out which service might be good. Hopefully the picture coming through…to give you an example..
Hehe, we are on here to be nerdy and geek out ~ it’s what makes us Beanies!! 🤓
I think the chart is helpful for on air and upcoming shows, and makes me pretty certain about going for Viki.
I see we have some completed shows in common 😁
Also Sister 1 And Sister 2 make me feel like my sister and I are Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss, and that’s not an inaccurate description of us hehe
hahahhaha I know! I’m sure you’re both awesome. I’m sorry Mmm.. maybe I could have writtern HotCocoaGirl & HotCocoaGirl Sister?
Research and organization is hard for me too. I use a few sites to help me mydramalist/com , trakt/tv and episodecalendar/com try to keep a handle on everything. I wish there was one with all the features I need plus a good app and display which provider was showing the drama…maybe one day.
Oh my complete shows column isn’t the shows I’ve finished watching that’s a different list(not pictured). The “Complete Series” column is for shows that have finished airing but that I haven’t finished or seen yet. hahah Mmm so my titles are all confusing. It’s the heart that counts. <3
Haha, it’s fine, I like the Sister 1 and 2 😜 I don’t even try to keep track, my sister has master lists of everything that she constantly consults. Maybe I should try to be more organized…
Ah, I see what you meant by complete series ~ I generally don’t watch old shows unless I’m sick and need a binge (it’s my policy to keep from watching more than a couple episodes at a time), so I suppose that was an easy mistake for me to make ~
I’m kind of asking both questions. My sister and I were sharing and paying for both Viki and Dramafever, but then neither had shows we were wanting (darn Netflix licensing), so we dropped both subscriptions. Now I’m looking to get a subscription going again, but I am trying to decide if I can just choose one.
I agree with everyone so far. Recently Viki has been able to get most of the good dramas, but with added limitations. At the same time, they have the best subs (better than Dramafever too). So I have Viki Plus and standard Dramafever.
Yeah, I’m thinking I’ll go for Viki. I used to be on Dramafever all the time when I started drama watching, and I used their news and reviews, but now I’m on drama beans for all my news, reviews, and drama community, and I enjoy the subs and comments on Viki, so I think I might just forego Dramafever.
Unless of course Dramafever gets some awesome drama that only it has licensed… 😉
Yes! That’s how I used to be as well.
In fact, until now I was watching I am not a Robot on Dramafever, but now Viki has it lol. And they put up the raws almost immediately. 😀

Does Viki have good shows on it right now? Or so you have to pay premium for most of them?

That’s smart, switching between them. Maybe I should imitate that tactic for drama watching…
