More awards for Coffee Prince

Glad to see that the actors aren’t the only ones reaping the praise for one of the biggest dramas of the year, and the biggest romantic comedy overall. Which is only apt, since a tremendous amount of its success is owed to its behind-the-scenes magicians, who are if not MORE important than the stars, then surely just as.

To that end, Coffee Prince director and producer Lee Yoon Jung was selected as one of two award winners by the Yoido Club of broadcasters (made up of the main players in the broadcast industry), which is headed by KBS vice president Lee Won Gun. The other winner is Jang Young Chul, writer of the large-scale KBS historical drama Dae Jo Young.

The award ceremony takes place on the 11th (in Yoido’s 63 Building, which should ring a bell for some drama-lovers as a common Seoul setting). The jury committee explained their reason for selecting PD Lee: “She has explored new ground in making a miniseries with her fresh sensibilities and directing technique.”

  3. Lee PD totally deserves all the praises. If it weren’t for her, Coffee Prince would not be as successful if it weren’t for her skills.

And I find her laugh really hilarious every time I watch the NGs. It’s so distinguishable, it makes me laugh.

Congratulations Lee PD! More power to you!

  4. It’s great to see a person putting that much of herself into a job, thouroughly enjoying it as it came to life, and reaping the rewards for the excellance that she and her cast and crew created. I hope this is the first of a large bounty that will be coming CP’s way. Bravo!!

  5. She deserves it! Hopefully she can recieve more awards for her hardwork on CP. Do I hear party?! I’m not familiar with Yoido’s 63 Building though. In which k-dramas did they use that building in? I’m totally clueless and don’t pay attention to names. I guess I’m not that of a drama-lover. But I am, in some ways. Hehe.

  6. i’m jumping the bandwagon…she totally deserved it!!! plus, she is just too cute with her hearty laugh. can’t wait for her next project!

  7. 63 Building was the one Yoo Rin in My Girl have always wanted to visit. They shot quite a few scenes in there if I’m not mistaken. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen that many other dramas that featured the building.

  8. i’m happy for her :)

  9. Yay…no one more deserving of the recognition for the series. :D

  11. Wow, congrats to her! I’ve been a fan of PD Lee Yoon Jung’s since Taereung National Village. And I admire her for being one of the few female PDs in the field. She has tremendous talent and potential, and she’s really the reason so much of Coffee Prince worked. So hurray for her!

  14. she’s just so lovable like a character herself..immensely talented as well. Eun Hye still meets with her and cooks dinner for her and the reason she cried so much at the farewell party is cos she didn’t want to leave Lee PD..according to her VG Interview.
