Oh noes! My Kang Ji-hwan, he iz hurtingks!
Speaking of on-the-job injuries, on December 9, Kang was shooting a chase scene for his new film Civil Servant Level 7 in Seoul’s Itaewon neighborhood when the slippery ground caused him to fall.
Ankle hurt, Kang was taken to a nearby hospital, where it was confirmed that he had pulled a ligament. While he didn’t break anything, the injury was still deemed serious enough that he was told to stay off it entirely for ten days.
Kang’s management told the press that the hospital had deemed it necessary for Kang to put his foot in a cast, but because that would interfere with filming (oh no, we can’t have our actor’s health interfere with our schedule!), they decided to go with a week of rest and medical treatments instead.
In the movie, Kang plays a secret agent alongside co-star Kim Haneul; the film opens in early 2009.

on american soaps (which i watched before i was converted keke), they build actors’ real-life injuries into the story — “say, what’s the matter, Riff?” “oh, it’s nothing, Buff, hurt my shoulder playing soccer.” Since KJH plays a secret agent, it’d be easy to work into the script that he was injured on the job. that way he could have a cast, which sounds more medically sound in the long term. i’m not a doctor, but i play one to my fave korean hotties… ^^
