MBC’s Hon (Soul) releases first stills

Get ready for more summer horror with MBC’s special summer miniseries Hon, or Soul [혼]. Here we get our first look at stills featuring the drama’s stars Lee Seo-jin (Yi San), new actress Im Joo-eun (Merry vs. Daegu Battle), and singer-actor Park Gun-il of group Super Nova and film Quiz King.

Lee Seo-jin’s character Shin Ryu is a renowned criminal psychologist out to subdue murderers. Im Joo-eun — who won the part in a competitive audition round against more than 1,000 other hopefuls — plays bright and healthy high school student Yoon Hana.

However, upon the death of her twin sister Doo-na (and those who know Korean will get a giggle out of their names — it’s like naming your daughters First and Second), Hana discovers that she has some special abilities; their collective souls give her superhuman strength. Hana is watched over by her friend Jung Seo-woo (Park Gun-il in his first drama role), who always sports a different, noticeable hairstyle.

Hon will premiere on MBC on August 5.

Interesting. 'Soul' when written in Vietnamese, (without the accents), is also "Hon". The word was probably taken from a Chinese character.

Waiting to see Park Gun Il's acting chops. Glad his steering towards the acting field- singing hasn't always been his thing in Supernova.

Thanks Javabeans!

Heh. Horror scares the wits out of me... I'm really bad with that particular genre, but this looks so interesting that I'm sure that I'll be following it anyway XD Besides there's already a fansub group interested in it ^^

This seems like the sixth horror related Korean drama or movie this year. Can't wait to see this.

@ Linda: I think it came from the chinese word "hun" (pronounced as hoon).

The posters look freaky, esp the 1st one...

I'm not really a horror fan, but this seems intriguing. I'll be keeping my eyes out for this one.

I am impressed by this. How exactly do you distinguish yourself among 1,000 prospective actresses?

A thousand actresses!

Even if Im Joo Eun was easily better than 95% of the others, that means that she had to beat out 50 other really good actresses for the role. I am guessing that this woman has got to be pretty special, acting-wise.

I'm too scared to watch horror, but I want to know what will happen! *sigh*

Lee Seo Jin looks better with the new hair cut too~

That is true, about how she must be really good to beat out 1,000 other actresses. I suppose this means more eyes on her, and so will the pressure for her increase. I want to see her acting...

i wondered also that the girl with a short hair is also the girl who wears school uniform below? and i dont know why he always change look or unnoticeable hairstyle when i saw the movie.. it tricks me... and why the guy burns the girl who wears white dress? argghh,, i love it,, but its confusing..
