If you’re like me, hearing the description of a drama featuring a “typical, ordinary Korean ajumma” with a child may run the risk of turning you off, but as with Last Scandal of My Life, I think SBS’s Oh! My Lady has potential. Plus: Chae Rim looks adorable.
Chae Rim plays Kae-hwa, a manager with a musical production company who is stuck with managing top star Min-woo (Super Junior’s Choi Siwon), whose first love Yoon-jung (Park Han-byul) is a marketing manager of a fashion brand. The production company CEO, Shi-jun, is played by Lee Hyun-woo, who is married to top choreographer Moon Jung-hee. Kae-hwa’s ex-husband is a venture capitalist played by Yoo Tae-woong. Got all that?
Chae Rim has been playing older than her age for the past couple of years, which I find interesting since she’s still quite young (she’s 30, and will turn 31 as Oh My Lady begins airing) and doesn’t automatically seem like ajumma material. She was 28 when she played 33-year-old Dal-ja in Dal Ja’s Spring, then played a thirtysomething single mother in last year’s Job Well Done. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, just interesting given Korea’s obsession with youth, but perhaps that’s where the good roles are?
The romantic comedy premieres on March 22, taking over the Monday-Tuesday slot from Wish Upon a Star.

I am really looking forward to this drama! Last Scandal was one of my favorites, so I am all for series about ajumma, and the connection to the idol industry interests me even more. I also *ahem* really like older-woman-younger-guy series very much as well. (Though it’s interesting how it’s always the younger guy who spends most of the series convincing the reluctant older woman to date him, and not an older woman confidently chasing the younger guy. Anyway…)
I liked Chae Rim in Dal Ja’s Spring (and found all her dialog there putting down 20-somethings to be hilarious considering she was still a 20-something at the time).
I’m in the target age for a series like this, so March 22 can’t come soon enough!

yes, i always wonder why Chaerim seem to have Ahjumma character, she’s still young, and still looking beautifully young if she’s not in ahjumma attire…
i hope the ex-husband is not as obnoxious as the CJS’s husband in Last Scandal, if that’s the case i think my tv/computer would suffer minor things being thrown upon it while he’s on screen… because i remembered throwing lots of things when CJS’s husband is on screen.

this is the second drama I’m most anticipating for! I love Chae Rim since Dal Ja’s Spring (w/Lee Min Ki), and I liked Choi Si Won in Legend of Hyang Dan! Personally I think Chae Rim will have a good chemistry with Choi Si Won, than Sohn Ye Jin with Lee Min Ho.
I thought the girl who plays her daughter will be the same girl who played her daughter in Job Well Done….she is an adorable girl.
But still, the pictures look great.

I LOVE Chae Rim! She’s an amazing actress! Looking forward to this drama. I really think that she will have good chemistry with Siwon. I hope I’m not wrong. Chae Rim has always been young looking and Choi Si Won doesn’t look too young either.
I also like that Chae Rim is open playing roles older than her. Maybe she’s tired playing roles younger than her age or maybe the roles older than her is more appealing to her. It was said that she chose this drama after a long deliberation, it was her choice. She’s like always playing younger roles before. I remember her in Dating Now, she was already in her 20s but she can pass convincingly as a high school student!
I like the younger guy-older girl relationship only in dramas and movies but not in real life. lol.

Lookin forward to the pairing of these two talented actors. Chae Rim has always shined whether it was comedy or sob story. Choi Siwon (great eye candy and ear candy), well, this looker has “IT!”…..he doesn’t need to speak .. Loved him in Hyang Dan as well as 18 vs 29….and the obnoxious class prez in Attack of the Pin Up Boys, he didn’t need to speak to get his point across to the audience….can’t wait for this. March is taking too long to get here… Good luck to the cast..

I totally agree with Mzpakipot. Chae Rim and Choi Si Won looks more convincing in an ajumma drama than Lee Min Ho and So Yeh Jin. I am really looking forward to this drama though I will miss Pal Kang and her brood in Wish Upon A Star.
Not sure about this at all, yes Siwon is a huge draw but Im sick of Full House/Dal Ja Spring esque dramas, you can see everything a mile off. I’ll watch the first few eps but I don’t expect it to be anything but mediocre which is quite sad.
Oh good, a new Chae Rim drama! She does look super cute, but her curly hair reminds me slightly of Eugene in 3 Dads 1 Mom. I really loved her in Job Well Done! as well as Dal Ja’s Spring and Powerful Opponents, so looking forward to this one as well
