L and Choi Jin-hyuk partner up for Numbers

L (Kim Myung-soo), Choi Jin-hyuk

Math is my biggest enemy, but I’m already way too excited for MBC’s Numbers: Watchdogs in a Concrete Jungle — or maybe that’s just my Infinite fangirl heart talking. L, a.k.a. Kim Myung-soo (Secret Royal Investigator), is finally back for his first post-military drama, and he’ll be starring alongside Choi Jin-hyuk (Zombie Detective).

The office drama will center around the high school graduate Jang Ho-woo (L), who’s the only employee at Taeil Accounting Firm without a bachelor’s degree. What he lacks in certificates, though, he more than makes up for with determination and diligence. In the pursuit of numerical justice, Ho-woo will tap into his intuition and quick thinking to improvise unconventional solutions and save the day.

Thankfully, Ho-woo’s not alone. He’ll have the guidance of the senior manager Han Seung-jo (Choi Jin-hyuk), who has twelve years of accounting experience. Seung-jo is the kind of guy that every mom wants as their son, and he’s certainly the epitome of perfect professionalism. With stellar results and an amiable personality, Seung-jo sounds like he’s a shoo-in for Employee of the Month twelve times a year.

Seung-jo also has a prestigious background to boot, since he’s the only son of Taeil’s vice president Han Jae-kyun, played by Choi Min-soo (Extracurricular). Living by the principle of noblesse oblige, Jae-kyun has a reputation for being benevolent and honorable. However, with great power comes great responsibility, and Jae-kyun’s intimate knowledge of the company’s secrets inevitably makes him sensitive to even the tiniest of calculation errors.

Rounding out our main cast, Yeonwoo (The Golden Spoon) plays the senior associate Jin Yeon-ah, who’s in charge of Ho-woo’s workplace training. Though numbers intimidate her sometimes (and I certainly relate), she’s described as an energetic and affable person who takes on the world with courage. She’ll certainly add a bright spark to all the number-crunching.

The drama will also feature fellow Infinite member Lee Sung-yeol (Time of Memory) as Shim Hyung-woo, a scholarship recipient with Jae-kyun as his benefactor. Overcoming his underprivileged background with Jae-kyun’s help, Hyung-woo has since climbed the ranks to become a deal partner director at Taeil. I’m certainly looking forward to Ho-woo and Hyung-woo’s interactions — I mean, you can’t cast two Infinite members and then have them work separately, right? Show, I’m counting on you!

Helmed by PD Kim Chil-bong (The Second Husband) with scripts penned by Jung Ahn and Oh Hye-seok, Numbers: Watchdogs in a Concrete Jungle is slated for a June premiere.

I like CJH and CMS. L is hit or miss for and I don't think I have ever seen Yeonwoo in anything. So 50-50.

I like Choi Jin Hyuk and am very happy to have him back.
I have dropped the 2 dramas with L that I tried.
So 60% chance of fast-forward.

Maybe it’s me, but does anyone else think this sounds like the premise for Suits but the accounting version?

You know what, after what seems like 29382393 law dramas (and counting lol there's another two on air at the moment!) an accounting/finance drama sounds like an intriguing and fresh change!

It doesn't sound like there's a revenge plot in this one but I suppose the chaebol corruption is a given since we're dealing with numbers right? I'll take it though, hopefully this'll land on a platform I can access!

I was thinking much the same thing- Instead of lawyers let's do accountants.

It sounds good. Koreans generally make good office dramas. Somehow they manage to enliven and make interesting the most ordinary situations.

I've been patiently waiting for news of this one. I love Choi Jin-hyuk and quite like L so please be on a site I can actually access! Seeing two Infinite members in the same show will be fun too. Methinks Yeonwoo is lucky to be on this team of handsome actors!
