A Dramabeans Meetup? Vote!

We’ve had a lot of requests over the years for a Dramabeans Meetup, and while that seemed like a good idea in theory, we were always daunted by the reality of prying ourselves away from our screens, putting on pants and venturing into the sunlight. And then somebody suggested, “Nighttime could work and pants are still optional.” The idea was too genius not to consider.

So before we get really serious about putting on pants, we thought we’d ask you if you’d be interested in coming to such an event, to gauge interest. Because it would be really sad to be the only two people at our birthday party. [I dunno whatchoo talkin’ ‘bout. My mom will be there. *throws confetti* -GF]

As it turns out, we’ll be heading over to New York next month — who knew there were classes on Hallyu now? — which strikes us as a good time to test out this Meetup experiment. Unless the poll results say otherwise, that is, in which case you can stop reading now and we’ll turn away to cry into our ice cream. Votes?

Clearly we know exactly what we are doing and have no need of any help whatsoever in planning such an event because of our extraordinary foresight and stellar planning skills… but okay, we’ll open ourselves up to offers of help, if you insist. Does anyone have great ideas for meeting places? I’m sure we can scrounge something up, but right now our best idea is huddling somewhere in Central Park, fighting with the squirrels for space. Those bastards can be vicious.

And if you do think the Meetup is a fun idea but wish it were in your hometown, tell us where you’d like us to go next, and maybe we can make it happen!

Oh, Come On, L.A. is where it's at, man! It's where the greatest concentration of Asian-Americans live in the U.S. (well, Southern California, O.K.?) and that means that's where you'll draw the biggest crowd! You don't wanna be the only two people @ your birthday party? Come to L.A.!

I would be THRILLED to come to this.

We could meet in ktown in Manhattan.

Also, there is a lovely Korean restaurant near my apartment in Brooklyn that plays kpop 24/7 and even has a projector that they use to project korean music videos. It would be perfect, except it's only located off the G train so it's not super accessible for Manhattan-ites.

Lol, the G train. I used to take that train to school. It's not one of the MTA's best lines, haha.

I'm so happy for anybody who'll be able to come at this dream came true meetup. Sadly, I am in a totally different (you named it), continent, language, timezone, etc. I am pretty sure you won't come to my country so may I suggest you come to Korea? That would be great right? Dramabeans is all about Korean drama, movie, and culture. Wouldn't it be awesome if you set up a meeting there? That way we might as well have a small tour there. (Oh, how I wish!)

A meetup would be awesome, but it's hard to make it to NYC without significant planning. If you're ever in Denver a meet up here would be great. :) Or as an alternative how about we all just fly to Vegas?

NY is far... May I suggest a youtube/google hangout (in addition to whatever meet up plans you all end up making) or a youtube/google/televised-via-the-interwebs type of Dramabeans podcast (invite the dramabeans minions gummimochi, kaedaejun, and headsno2 too)?

this looks cool XD always wanted to see what you guys look like.

However, there are some of us that lives in Asia. I mean, i could fly to SG or KR in a whim, but a round trip ticket for NY is really expensive :|

If this pushes through, hope there is an Asian leg of the meetup XD

As last week's outpouring of support showed, you have major fans everywhere. I think that you guys could do a fan meeting/tour-like thing (because of course you do not have other lives and do nothing but think about meeting us, right? RIght? okay. *sniffing in a corner*).

I live in Massachusetts and would have to take a couple days off to do the seven hour drive to NYC, which is not possible during the semester (if I could not do it to stalk Oguri Shun filming the Rich Man Poor Woman special in NYC, I can't do it for you guys--even though I love you more. Really, I swear!). However, it may be one of those things that if you schedule a "tour dates" in advance people could go. You know the dramabeans 2013 tour with dates in NYC, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Charlotte, etc. Could you get people from each of those locations to help out with arrangements (free meeting places, etc.?) For example, if you would be interested in doing a panel about blogging, I could probably set up something at my school for a questiona nd answer from students and then you could get paid (I teach at a small school, so it would not be whole lot) and then dramabeanies could go out afterward. Imention this because I know bloggers like the Eat Your Kimchi people do this kind of thing with their fans.

Or perhaps, you could do a live chat?

Me! Me! Me! I'm from Hawaii! (Oahu) I was wondering if there was anyone else from Hawaii. I'm surprised there aren't more. I never post but I check and read the recaps daily. You know how you're supposed to read to your infant? Well yeah, I read the recaps to my 11-month-old and Im certain she loves kdramas. :)

I was living in MA a year ago and would have totally made the trip to NY for this event. If you plan it ahead, like give me 6 months notice I would totally attend and plan a trip around it. I would so totally be there.

Yey, it's about time... I remember asking you for a meet up, Beanies unite!!!! Los Angeles would be great but if its New York, I'll be there for you JB and company... Hmmm, will DF reps be there? Can't wait, let it be soon, but not in Oct... Hey, the Midwest would be fine... The center of the U S, do you think you could have some KDrama actors, actress, idols show up? That will really make it our while.... But even if there weren't I'd still show up!!! Beanies unite!!!!

Okay, let's see how things develop. Germans can leave a message here at 121.1, if they are interested in meeting up or having the video chat. A preferred location would be helpful if we consider doing a real life meet.

This would be awesome. If I could find a way to make it. At the very least I will follow all the news.
