the 3 main broadcasting station should learn from tvN.... tell the truth and take the needed time to develop & end the drama well, not like so many dramas we see which started well and ended up crappy bcos of live-shoot problems

Kudos for a Cast & Crew friendly station!. Some people in the business needs to remember their employees are human beings.

Kudos to this drama for being as good as Reply 1997 even though it's almost 3 times as long. Reply 1997 still has the best heroine with Sung Shi Won though.

Let's just hope that the second half of 88 doesn't resemble the second half of 94, screen time remains evenly split between the parents and kids, and family continues to be the focus. Even so...idk. At least Chilbong was popular and well-adjusted (and frankly it was a giant stretch to imagine that he wouldn't have found someone else after the many time gaps). Taek, on the other hand...it's a giant stretch to imagine him interested in a girl at all, let alone successfully dating one...and let alone making a new group of friends if the love triangle blows up in their faces. This might get very hard to watch and an extra week or so waiting for the axe to fall is going to suuuuuck.

I was just gonna say that they shouldn't have kept the 90-min length and/or do 20 episodes. That's the reason I stopped 1994 and why I can't start this one even though I want to.

12 percent?! Woah 1988 is really killing it. Gosh it's such a good show that it deserves all the praise. I'm a bit behind by a couple eps, 90 minutes are a stretch for me, so I can't wait for that one week in January to catch up properly. It must put a lot of pressure on them to shoot episodes that long each week, but since it's doing so well in the ratings I hope everyone benefits from it big time.

Surprisingly, I don't even notice the hour and a half episodes. I'm so engrossed in the story that I never want the episodes to end. It's still too early to say for sure, but so far, 1988 is surpassing 1997 and 1994 in my book.

I'm so happy for their hit ratings. During their V app special before the drama aired, the female cast promised to visit an all-boys high school and treat them to a meal if ratings reached 8%, while the male cast promised to visit an all-girls high school and play games if ratings reached 10%. 1988 already achieved those ratings in episodes 4 and 5, respectively. I wish ratings can hit 18% like they had hoped for them to fulfill their last promise to fans.

Don't know about u guys but even with those 90 min per hour i can't get enough,i really love,love this drama and all the stories,i love the young ones,i love the family stories...i'm sooooooo gonna have to wait one week without it,buu huuuuuuu...maybe they did it to give the actors some days off to spend with families as the end of year or so and perfect the editing/filming as well,it's already ahrd waiting one week for this 2 episodes,that pass soooooo damn fast,yet 2 weeks,bu huuuuuu

I too don't mind the 90 minute format at all. I am in love with the cast. I started the show with low expectations, since I wasn't familiar with the cast except Amma/Appa/SW and Samchunpo , but I am glad I did. All the actors mesh so well with each other. Reply 1988 is already my 2nd favourite from the franchise!! Ofcourse Reply 1997 will always remain right at the top ( I actually rewatched from from 13 to 16 to relive the romance between Shiwon and Yoon Jae ♡ )
One last thing. TEAM JUNG HWAN! I will keep adorable Takie is my pocket kekekekke

When I read this I was thinking OMG I can't watch it next week but then again its next month.oh my panic heart. but again I will be missing my happy dose at weekends. Love this drama so much. at first I doubt it because everybody doubt Hyeri but she's doing fine. although I'm sad but glad that they gave the cast and crew some break so that they can make good episodes. I didn't realize each episode is 90 minutes, guess I enjoy all that when its the end I goes " oh nooooo "

Okay I think the husband is Jung-hwan, I mean the future hubby is super sassy and the only character who's sassy is Jung-hwan. Taek is super sweet but your personality doesn't change like that. Idk just giving my two cents

Aside from my love from the drama i could also shout my love for the music they use in every episode,i really hope(small chance maybe)that they release a special OST VA edition with all the songs used in the show...such beautiful songs and many so hard to find as i'm not familiar with them,for that i really thank u girlfriday for always adding a song in your recaps,especially the ones that aren't in the OST but oldies or even mentioning the names,makes it more easy to find them jajja

It's amazing that this show is on par (and beating some) of ratings for weekday and weekend dramas.

I think the delay is good, people will be busy anyway around that time. It's good the cast is large though, because 180 minutes live shooting a week can't be fun.

I might go and make those "Taekies", but then nobody will know what they are except me. :P
