Drama viewership ratings for the week of May 11-17, 2020

A lot of dramas are still struggling, and we may have to get used to it — it’s slowly turning into the norm. Ratings for the Monday-Tuesday shows went down, for the Wednesday-Thursday shows went down… And for The King? Yeah, those also went down, from an 8.1 percent last week to 6.3 and 7.8 percent this week.
Even on dramaland’s worst days, there are, of course, a few bright spots. Jang Nara’s latest drama Oh My Baby dropped on tvN Wednesday with 2.0 percent and later increased to 3.0 percent. Hospital Playlist’s numbers went up, ever so slightly, still resting at a comfortable 12 percent. The mellow medical drama only has a few weeks until its finale, so I hope it receives a little more love before it has to go.
It’s no surprise that A Couple’s World came in and once again broke records. The drama aired its finale Saturday and soared to 28.4 percent. Unless we get another A Couple’s World or SKY Castle anytime soon, this is going to be an impossible number to beat. To close, dramas Find Me in Your Memory and Rugal also aired their finales, and though they didn’t exactly end on a high note, it could be worse.

Fling is getting what it deserve. Well, Several others deserve the same results too. But this is an unfaair world so one getting the beating is enough to calm everyone.
Fling's fallout lies with the whole team. Complete mismanagement.
Writer depending on a name, playing oversmart, ignoring the demography, valuing local audience cheap.

Welp, there ain't immature fangirls here in DB. We can openly discuss the flaws and strength (?) of The King. No need to hide.
I know fangirls or fanboys probably debate about The King's quality, but the rating is a fact. You can't argue against the fact that rating is low. I think it will improve later on, but on the average rating wise, this may be the worst rating that KES has ever received.

@Jingbee KES = Kim Eun Sook. She's the writer of The King: Eternal Monarch as well as other prominent dramas such as Secret Garden, Descents of the Sun, Goblin and Mr Sunshine :)

I only read the first sentence, so I assumed "Fling" was "A Couple’s World" as in a fling or affair.

It is an overall bad drama. Everything about it is bad including the name they thought would make it a hit. Yes, LMH is very disappointing as well, watching him was like watching paint dry. The writing is such a mess and all over the place. No chemistry between any of the characters including the leads. I've seem low budget dramas and movies that had better directing. I had to drop the drama because I could not hang in there anymore. The idea of parallel universes has so much potential, but this is not the right team to capitalize on it. The music is good though.

TVN cut A Piece of Your Mind when they didn't have the next drama to be ready, except for the short one, so frustrating!
For the King, it's hard to follow the timeline because of the story and overall the editing.

It's strange that tvN cut off APOYM early. They might as well air My Unfamiliar Family early.
As for the time slot of Mon-Tues, I don't know what tvN is planning. Initially, it was going to use that slot for Youth Records. But it keeps on pushing out Youth Records. Lol.

I'm very happy for the cast and crew but I'm glad that it's over. It's been exhausting to watch.
This writer Joo Hyun has been blessed to be working with an amazing PD like Mo Wan Il on his/her first drama.
JTBC has been my favorite since launched and that hasn't changed.
I'm looking forward to more Friday/Saturday dramas. It has been JTBC's best slot.

Congrats to writer and team for the successful remake.
However...this is not the first drama by the writer. The writer also wrote Revolutionary Love. RL and TWOTM are worlds apart in the writing department. I dropped RL because the characters were annoying (especially the ML character) and the plot was meh.
I'm glad the writer found her/his groove for TWOTM. Maybe writernim is better at adapting dramas to suit local audience rather than writing an original script.

oh the writer is the same with Revolutionary Love? interesting info..I've always thought she/he wrote Misty (seems quite similar in term of a thrill story telling, shile RL is a different genre i believe) and Misty is fantastic throughout (except for the last 10 minutes) lol.

So happy that a well written an acted drama like a couple world is getting the ratings n popularity it deserves..... Congratulations to the whole team.. May they win a lot of awards and yes it will take something special to break that record............. For me it's better than the original and hope it encourages writers to b more creative and cast season actors...
Rugal had potential but it was wasted.... The power btn heros n villain should have been equal ..what the point of having powers if they don't help u
Lastly I loved find me in your memory... I encourage people to watch very well build romance and backstory everything done right

I am currently watching Born again and Oh my baby and I enjoy both shows a lot. I am watching born again mostly for the leads although the story is not bad at all. And oh my baby is really cute...

The King's rating is going down episode after episode. I feel bad for the cast and crew, because everyone seems to works hard, but the quality of this drama is not upto the mark to gain the ratings like Couple's world. I wish i would see the improvement in the coming episodes in direction, story telling , writers and character's development.

Everyone works hard on every drama. It doesn't entitle them to anything. If it did, they'd all get high ratings. Eternal Monarch was nothing more than a cynical money grab by a writer and production company who thought they could pick the elements of a ratings hit off the shelf and assemble it like a puzzle.

Well since the writing is bad, directing is bad, acting is bad - I have to be honest and call it like I see it, LMH is not impressive at all. The only thing I liked was the music. Anyway, I finally dropped the drama, I could take anymore. I bet the cast and crew know how bad it is and just can't wait until it is over so they can move on to their next project.

Congratulation A Couple's World / TWOTM, it's been a fun journey. I enjoyed it despite the high blood pressure-inducing scenes in every episodes but it's fun 😄 They deserved the ratings, the drama crew and casts have done a great job !

I'm so glad TWOM ended with superb ratings. They sure deserve all those recommendations and hype. It's sad to bid farewell to a drama that gives me thrills and anxiety(in a good way) twice every week. It's not easy to come across a well-written drama nowadays. Now let's hope for TKEM to smooth its storyline in the latter half of its run and hopefully lesser of those awkwardly abrupt product placement...

Episodes 29 though 31 of Once Again dragged a bit as the characters bumped along the bottom, I wonder how people knew that things were going to change and suddenly tuned in for episode 32? Are weekenders that predictable?

Once Again airs on Sat-Sun at 7:55 pm KST for over one hour. TWOM was broadcasted at 10:50 pm KST .

It is the usual scenario for almost all the weekenders that the last part tends to get higher ratings. The same goes for the TKEM although it used to have an overlap of around 20 min with WOM. Still the ratings that are mentioned here for the King are of its 2nd half. The first half went even lower. For example on Friday,TKEM rating was 5.8 and 6.3 respectively for the two parts.

I guess people miss their historical fix. King maker: the change of destiny rating was 3.8 on Sunday. Is this maybe a sleeping hit for Tv Chosun.

That maybe the highest rating for a first episode of a TVChosun drama. It bests GRAND PRINCE’s first episode Nielsen rating of 2.519% and SELECTION: THE WAR BETWEEN WOMEN/QUEEN: LOVE AND WAR’s first episode Nielsen rating of 2.557%.

And the King keeps dropping lower every week. I'm not surprised especially since I dropped the drama a week ago. It was painfully bad and I just could not hang in there anymore.
