I don’t understand why you’re always the first one to go away in a makeover scene.
People kept saying that we are prettier and more handsome without you, as if turning people ugly is one of your unwritten purpose.
But the thing is, I’ve known you for more than half of my life, and I couldn’t even imagine how I would look like without you.

You are the first one I reached for after I woke up.
You are the one that made my world brighter and you are also the one that allowed me to wave back to my smiling friends from across the building.
We’ve done so much things together: reading novels, writing those story-like diary entries, studying, chatting online, watching dramas, gawking at oppa’s pictures, eating, cooking, cleaning the house, …
At this point, it’s probably easier to list the things I did without you.

I haven’t always been fond of you.
Especially in the beginning, when people easily put me under ‘the studious girl’ label merely because of your presence.
You felt restraining then, projecting a certain image than I didn’t want, and I never stopped praying for the day where I can finally be free of you.

But that was years ago.
I don’t know since when you finally felt like an extension of myself, since when I started liking you little by little.
But I remembered forgoing a more elaborate eye makeup to numerous important occasions, just so I could wear you comfortably.
I joked about finding an excuse to keep you around when my mom told me about lasik surgery.
I looked at you in the mirror, and you always fascinated me in the way you made me look younger and more animated.

I touched your blue frame.
You know what? Nowadays I kinda like to be ‘that girl who looks pretty in glasses’.
