Probably an unpopular opinion: Arthdal Chronicles.
I’m not looking forward to it at all. To be honest, I’m a skeptical it’d be very good. I’ve tried reading the synopsis and it was all kinds of confusing but even asides that, it just seems like a grand cast, a new concept and an outstanding budget that will end up lackluster. I hope it doesn’t but I’ve noticed when dramaworld go out fo their comfort zones (which I’ll always appreciate and welcome), the bigger the budget, the bigger the expectations and harder they crash!
And I just can’t seem to take Kim Ji-Won and Song Joong-Ki seriously. Don’t get me wrong, they’re very talented actors. SJK was phenomenal in a werewolf boy but the only other project I’ve seen him in is DOTS and that was major lackluster show. Kim Ji-Won too – I loved her in Fight My way and seen her in supporting roles. But.. they’re just too pretty for the setting. They shine through the screen in the trailers and I’m unable to be immersed because it doesn’t look like they belong. That must be tough for either of them as actors. I wonder if there’s a role they’d like to play – esp. SJG – but can’t because they’re too pretty and the audience might not take them seriously.
Yeah I was hyped to see SJK on the small screen again (didn’t watch DOTS), but I lowered my expectations for this new drama after seeing the actual teasers/pics.

I don’t think you are the only one in this. I gagged and cringed when watching the trailer. Seriously.

Absolutely nothing about this show invites me to watch. It looks like a hot mess. I will enjoy watching it crash and burn from a nice safe distance.

I didn’t expect anything from this drama. And with the recent poster they released, it’s clear an absolute no from me.
