Jung Yumi’s sexy transformation in GQ

Jung Yumi trades her easygoing, quirky image for a bolder, sexier look in the September issue of GQ magazine. It’s quite a step away from the roles that have brought her to fame thus far, as her characters in projects like horror-action film Chaw, mellow romance Oishii Man, and drama series Que Sera Sera have been rather oddball, cute types.

(By the way, there is another Jung Yumi active in the industry at the moment, who was in the recent drama series Friend, Our Legend. This may perhaps be confusing because they’re also within the same age range, and I’ve seen news articles using the wrong picture on multiple occasions.)

The concept for the shoot “was to entirely overturn her usual image as a sensitive, unusual young woman.” The GQ spread accompanies an interview, and discusses Jung Yumi’s very busy year — she has seven films scheduled for release in 2009 (read more about that here), five of which were filmed this year.

Those films include, in addition to the few named above (minus QSS), Cannes entry Like You Know it All (with Go Hyun-jung), action thriller A Million (with Shin Mina, Park Hee-soon), Café Noir (with Lee Sung-min, Moon Jung-hee), Heart of the Mountain (with Lee Seon-kyun), and The Room Nearby.

The last picture looks a bit awkward, but I love that first picture. She's quite pretty. I think its always good for actors/actresses to go outside what people expect of them (if they can actually act it is another matter entirely).

She looks gorgeous, but I much prefer her quirky image because it makes her stand out among all the other actresses.

She looks fantastic. It's better to leave the cute image behind once you are in your twenties.
