Invincible trailer and official poster

Upcoming gangster-action film Invincible [무적자], starring Song Seung-heon, Joo Jin-mo, Kim Kang-woo, and Jo Han-seon, has released its official poster and trailer. It looks cheesy, epic, and therefore awesome.

The remake of 1986’s A Better Tomorrow (starring Chow Yun-fat) can’t possibly top the original, in my opinion. That film is the highlight of one of the most productive decades in Hong Kong cinema. It seems that what they’re going for here is a slick, contemporary version of the story, which they can hopefully pull off by trying to be different from the original, rather than re-do Chow Yun-fat. Because that would be an exercise in futility.

The tale is one we’re all familiar with, even if you haven’t seen the original film: brotherhood, loyalty, Fate entangling the four men in dramatic ways. This latest poster is a little less cheese-tastic than the character stills, so that’s a plus.

The trailer below looks rockin’. Joo Jin-mo will be the anchor, Song Seung-heon will strain to emote, and I have a feeling that Jo Han-seon is going to steal the show.

Invincible will be in theaters for the Chuseok holiday in September.

'O'

wooooowwww

Since I don't watch too many asian movies (they usually take forever to be subbed!), I can't tell if this is cheesy or not, it just looks epic to me. lolll

Ahhhh. Song Seung Hun does it for me every single time.

And I will be right here waiting to yell at the screen, "KISS! KISS! KISS!". I love these kind of movies, for all the wrong reason.

Based on the short trailer, the acting looks much more impressive than I had originally expected. Especially Jo Han Sun pulling off the Gyungsangdo accent.

LOL @ JB's quip for Song Seung-heon. I agree with you on that one and on your prediction about the other actors. Jo Han-seon is sooo intense.

OMG, how can JJM's voice always be this sexy? Scratch that, how can he be still so sexy? laksdjalsdj I'm NOT complaining, ok?

Nah, they can't copy it XD But who needs a copy anyway, when there's already an original? So hopefully they'll try to do something different, and not just try and emulate A Better Tomorrow XDDD

Although the name alone is already cheesy..."Invincible" XDDD There's no such thing D:

SSH in a white suit... annoy me for some reason. He looks good without a doubt, but maybe its the posing and everything...

Perhaps I do not have to fear yet or should I?
JJM is solid from the trailer and that bad guy seems pretty fine...

These are stuffs from my childhood... I hope they do it justice... my own memories of the original is pretty vague already... just how young Leslie Cheung was then... and Chow Yun Fat too...

Perhaps... I willl be really really afraid they day they decide to remake Infernal Affair...

Alright, I gotta see the original so I can get ready for this but dang, the eye candy is killing me already!

And yes, SSH will strain to emote, but he just needs to look pretty and the rest can do the acting around him.

*watches trailer again and squeals*

Ahahaha oh man, this looks like it could be amazing. I love man-centric movies for the bromances. :3 (I've never seen A Better Tomorrow, but it's been on my list for a while.)

And totally off-topic, but I've been wondering something, JB. Why do you not list dramas airing on Fridays? Josen X-Files airs on Friday, as have others, and I completely forgot because I tend to rely on your sidebar there.

Maybe because it's cable TV or something? Or not on SBS, KBS or MBC or so XD

LOL! Spot on!
I am quite intrigued from just that tiny clip of Jo Han Seon. Rawr.

Gah, it's been so long since I've seen the original...I think I need to brush up on my HK cinema.

Surpassing A Better Tomorrow "would be an exercise in futility' - agreed. But JJM is very likely to be a better Ti Lung.

JJM will pull this off beautifully. Having set an unprecented standard in "A Frozen Flower", I am holding my breath for another breakthrough from him.

Don't mean to be a loudspeaker but I agree whole heartedly with that statement.

That said, I'd have to say the trailer looks quite promising. And really, I'd love to see Song Seung-heun in a more emotive character and I believe this can be one for him.

i just finished watching a better tomorrow , HK version,
not good as i thought , acting not sincere , storyline is ok but directing seems dragging , talking too much , my opinion.

Did they just show the ending in the trailer!? If you've seen the original, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Oh yeah, watched the trailer with this on in the background. Great stuff.

song seung heon is actually making me laugh with his whole wannabe cool-chow yun fat! lol he has nothing on chow yun fat =/
i wish they didn't advertise it as a remake of a better tomorrow cuz then I wouldn't compare the two films.....now i won't be able to see this film without having a judgemental view towards it :(
and is it me or does Jo Han-seon seem like a more convincing killer/gangster then the others in the crazy psychopath cold blooded way...

Just finished watching it. In essence, I think it's melodrama masquerading as gangster-action film. SSH tried his best so I'm not gonna mock him. Love JJM but it's hard to keep watching when the script reminds me of Hallyu's melodrama hits early 2000 the guy version. The slow pace and the bubbling of (forced) emotions is so Winter Sonata.
