Hi OT'ers

Hope you are all fine and doing well with your respective lives.

Right now I'm watching a lot of k-dramas and RMPW. I know most of our recappers tend to stick to k-dramas and maybe a few c-dramas, but I do wonder sometimes if they watch other type of dramas as well. None of them has spoken about RMPW which is being well received by us who are watching and enjoying the dynamics of Hyuga and Natusi.

[RANTING TIME - Be aware its long]

Have you ever watched one of those shows which is not good for you mentally, where you want to cuss, scream, and knock a lot of common sense into the main characters. You keep saying that you are not going to watch this mess but end up doing it anyway? Just love to torture yourself, don't you. Raise your hands and nod your head why don't you!! I'm sure that has happened a lot and then you question if you yourself have any sense for watching it all.

For me in 2012 that's the case with Rooftop Prince and now To the Beautiful You (TTBY). This is a rant on TTBY, so for the fans of the show, I somewhat apologize if this gets your ire.

I watched Hana Kimi (J version) and liked it the story flowed and made sense. My main problem with TTBY are the female counterparts Go Jae Hee (GJH) and Seol Hanna (SH) as well as the rest of the school also a bit on Tae Joon etc.

GJH - the fact that the PDs in the show gave us a high school transcript of GJH's "high intelligence and beyond average athletic ability" in addition to a girl with a bit of spunky behavior (ep 1 bathroom scene) does not transcribe with her idiotic and extremely naive behavior in the show. She has to be saved so many times for her idiocy its ridiculous, in addition considering that she is being disguised as a boy in a boy school shouldn't she be more than aware as to what not to carry in the school to prevent being caught - like makeup etc. Necessities - fine, but the other thing please doesn't she know better than that. Her girlish behavior is not hidden as she is doing a poor job therefore she must by now be aware that TJ knows for pete sake. Her reason has been sincere in helping TJ but what is she there for now - don't get it. She spends more time out of school and not training consistently which is commonplace for an athlete - this has yet to be truly displayed in the show. As for that dress in episode 10 - WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING, SHE'S 18 not 60. IT WAS BEYOND HORRIBLE- the photographer and the assistant are supposedly professionals and this is what they dressed her in for such event. What cruel people, they really don't like her at all and she should by now what looks good on her. GJH is a nice girl but she's an idiot and for me its the first in a long while I just cannot fully support the heroine because of it. As my sister tends to say at times criticize me if you will, I'll accept it but back it up with facts. It is for those reasons as stated before I cannot support GJH. If the PDs are going to buff up her portfolio - pretty, intelligent, athletic, able to take care of self, not stupidly naive etc. Show her behavior to match it, they have not done so.

SH - this girl is a supposedly international athlete (gymnast) who spends more time stalking TJ at the school than training (the school security stinks by the way). The girl too fass (inquisitive) for one's liking, annoying, immature and brattish. Just cannot like her, if the effort that she placed in stalking TJ was used for training and proving that she is a world class athlete then I can see with her. This is another issue that I have with the PDs.

By the way the reason for TJ getting caught in ep 10 was for TJ. Remember he wants to keep GJH by his side therefore he will do whatever is needed to ensure that is according to his wishes. As we all know - HE LIKES GJH a lot.

My other issue with the show is sports itself. I am sure that Korea has world class athletes but in "track & field" with top world scores is not at all believable and to be honest annoys the heck out of me especially when they are showing these students training at "international level' as I say again back it up with facts. In this case there is none. If there is, someone please let me know.

I know and understand its kdrama island but for some fluidity and genuineness in the show some reality is needed. If they use their national track records I would understand but international records with no known athlete from Korea is just wrong and personally as an avid spectator of the sport from a country of world renowned track & field athletes its a bit insulting.

Its just that though the show is total fluff and I do want to get into it just cannot for some of the reasons I stated earlier.

There's more that I want to rant about on this show but I'll stop for now.

Faith - usually do it after reading the recaps to determine whether I should watch it. Yay/nay do admit it can watch.
Golden Time - I like and look forward to a satisfactory ending 3 shows later.
Arang and the Magistrate - love
TTBY - see rant
May Queen - do like a lot (cross fingers that it works out the way I hope). Anyone know of any good streaming sites that I watch it at without the continuous buffering let us know here. Dramabeans is one of fav sites, do not miss a day being here. So if posted here, will not miss.
God of War - it ends today - thank goodness. All good things must come to an end.
RMPW - love, but why must j-drama'ers taunt us like this with the upcoming final episode. IT BETTER BE GOOD - FINAL EPISODE OF BUZZER BEAT ANYONE. GIMME SOMETHING LIKE THAT & WE'LL ALL BE HAPPY.
GTO 2012- can watch, prefer the original which was way better.

Finally watched the first episode of Vampire Prosecutor 2. Wow! Grizzly, much? But I liked it as usual. I'm liking the lead female more. They did something to tweak her character -- not sure what but she seems more realistic now.

Will try to see the last episode of Rich Man, Poor Woman. Watching it I remembered several of my issues with J-dramas. Girls with mincing feet who look up to the guy as if he's a god, extremely self-sacrificing noble "cute" women having to be all giving and understanding of the troubled guy," keeping the OTP apart for stupid reasons. Very annoying.

Might go back to Five Fingers. I have to be in the mood for a good melodrama. But am liking Mr Nice Guy a lot.

Loving both Arang and the Magistrate. Took a while for me to get into Arang but now that she's showing some self-awareness and some introspection and actual care for other folks...am liking it. It's one thing to be acting indifferent and to know it (as Magistrate was) and quite another to be actually indifferent to other folks' lives and to not know it (as Arang was.) So now I'm settled in.

Loving Faith. Waiting for subs.

My fave anime of the moment. (oh gee, i always misspell the title) Natsuyushi Rendezvous, just ended. Very odd but very lovely. And of course now I am totally addicted to Yuya Matshushita's new song.
