Election preemptions for Wednesday dramas

Poutyface. Regional elections will be held in Korea on Wednesday, June 4, which means drama preemptions for current Wednesday-Thursday shows You’re All Surrounded and A New Leaf this week. Both SBS and MBC will be airing special election coverage that night, which means we’ll have to wait till Thursday for new drama episodes. This is especially stingy in Leaf’s case, since they only aired one episode last week due to a World Cup special.

At least A New Leaf left off on a happy note last Thursday and let Kim Myung-min finally reunite with his puppy, whereas You’re All Surrounded had to go out on the ONE cliffhanger we’ve been waiting on for weeks. You know, the one where our hero’s secret identity is blown and we’re waiting to watch the (violent but bromantic) fallout? How can two puppies have had such very different days?

It’ll be interesting to see if this changes the ratings game at all, since last week Golden Cross received a nice bump in ratings due to A New Leaf’s absence (Golden Cross’s last episode recorded 9.2%). You’re All Surrounded has been steadily in first place (in the 12-14% range) since its premiere, but the Wednesday-Thursday shows have been fairly close all around.

Both shows will resume on Thursday, with A New Leaf Episode 10 and You’re All Surrounded Episode 9 airing on June 5.

I suspect we're going to have more pre-emptions for the World Cup once it starts, though thankfully at least the final is aired over a weekend and not on a weekday clashing with a drama.

(but I'm still excited for the World Cup, there's a strong chance I might dump some dramas just then)

Hm but time wise the matches should be during the night/early morning hours in Korea.

The matches take place around 6pm and 12pm here in Austria and we're 7 hours behind Korea ;) So that would make it 1am and 7am in Korea. No clashing with dramas ;)

Though I have no idea how they handle pre match stuff bc sometimes it's a bit excessive here in Austria and we are not even participating xD

Thank you for this :) I was cracking my brain at what time it would be in the Netherlands since we are indeed 7 hours ahead of Korea. But seeing as Austria is in the same time zone, its all clear now!

And Seung gi, why so cute with the poutyface ♥.

The good thing is I'll totally be busy watching the German matches (a lot of them, hopefully...), so I won't mind even if they really preempt some episodes then :D

Super glad that this won't affect Golden Cross since I was so worried about after reading the headline. I'm watching the other Wednesday-Thursday shows but I'll be ok with the extra day wait whereas with Golden Cross I'm already struggling to wait a week for new eps so only having 1 ep for the week would almost kill me (I would have to stay alive for the next weeks to see the end ofc, can't die before then).

Well this stinks...
I was glad i'll have something to do after i finish exams but now they've started preempting for the world cup....aaaggghhhhh
I already couldn't wait for tthe next episode of YAS and had to bare with only one episode of ANL but looks like this is going to happen more often.....
Oh well at least i'll have time to marathon some other shows and catch up

Nooooo! We only had one episode of New Leaf last week that barely got me through. I can't handle just one ep per week. :'(

Sucks for ANL which was gaining a lot of buzz., but had it's momentum stalled by the soccer game and this won't help either.

And only one episode of Dae Gu Dae Gu this week. :(

Hahaha love that pic you used GF! Pouty Seung-gi is adorkable.

I'm seriously upset about the pre-empt since the cliffhanger was the best out of all the episodes. MBC previously pre-empt K2H but aired 2 in a row on the Thursday (thus saving me from a week's misery). Why can't SBS do that?? /sigh

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOes

Only one episode with Daegu-Daegu this week ;-;.
But ... I need his dimples to get me through those horrible exams.
Would they air them back to back?
Probably not...

And it does sorta suck for A New Leaf.

I knew I should have held off on YAS until it was finished.

And we're heading into sports of various sorts season so things are probably going to get worse.

I've been waiting to ask...
Is SBS still the only station owning the rights to World Cup broadcasting? If so, SBS might preempt more episodes in the future.

Isn't the dog in New Leaf too old to be called a puppy?

Still, even if I don't care one bit whether it is there or not, I would prefer to have two new episodes instead of only one. Though I think that local elections are very important for the society, unlike football, so this week I don't mind.

I am already anticipating what will happen when the World Championships begin. I hope there won't be many changes to teh drama schedule...

C'mon! Look at Khan's face in the pic~ it's as if he's saying "You're never too old to express your Inner Puppy".

haha of course the two dramas I'm watching are both preemted, oh well.
Come World Cup time I hope some dramas incorporate the matches into their shows, kinda like when YFAS mentioned Kim Yuna.

Is someone holding an umbrella for him? Lee Seung Gi? Are his arms broken? Is this a shot/scene in the drama? Man up dude.

Uh, they are filming and protecting him and Ara (see someone holding the umbrella for her too) from seagull poop if you must know (which he cleaned up himself hence the pouty face) It's the cody's job to do this too.

It seems like might be almost the only person to ber VERY, VERY happy that ANL is having another episode pre-empted this week. Two single pre-emptions in a row means NO NEED FOR AN EXTENSION, YAYY!!!

It's already bad enough to only have 1 ep of ANL and now YAS do the same too... Why oh why? I actually watch the MBC election announcement last month but don't know it will affect dramas.

Personally I'm happy as I'm behind in all three shows I'm watching, A New Leaf, You're all Surrounded, and Doctor Stranger, I'll have time to catch up. Although I probably won't catch up all the way as I've discovered I enjoy being behind by an episode or two, it gives me time to do other things.

Could this mean a 1-ep extension for You're All Surrounded ? (assuming there's no more preemptions, of course).

That's just a very cute pic of puppy..... which just makes me want to pinch his cheeks even more. Gah.
