Baby’s first award

girlfriday: Look, we got a shiny trophy!

javabeans: Dramabeans was chosen to receive a Dari Award this year, given out by the Korea Creative Content Agency (part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism), for their 10 Year Commemorative Dari Award. We were surprised and super honored to be the recipient, and happy to share the news with you.

girlfriday: “Dari” means “bridge,” and the award honors businesses that spread Korean culture, promote creative content in the US, and bridge the culture gap.

javabeans: It’s really cool, because we feel like our work is just us doing what we like to do, and now people are giving us awards for doing it, and that sort of feels like we hit the jackpot.

girlfriday: We attended the ceremony last night and got to meet a lot of really cool people who work in the industry on the creative side of things. Mostly we thanked our mothers for raising us to be drama addicts, and we thanked all of you guys, our readers, for being such an awesome community.

javabeans: You couldn’t hear us say it, but we were super complimentary about you and said really nice things, I swear!

girlfriday: You would have cried if you heard our acceptance speech.

javabeans: Which explains why I’m in LA right now, and also why maybe somebody is slacking on her Pinocchio recaps…

girlfriday: I AM NOT slacking! *hiccup*

javabeans: But we’ll be back at work soon, once we stop staring at the shiny trophy.

girlfriday: And drinking our celebratory wine.

javabeans: That might take a while. Will it happen sooner if we drink faster?

girlfriday: I dunno, let’s try.

javabeans: Is there an award for that too? ‘Cause I think we could win that one.

girlfriday: Not yet, but until someone invents that award and gives it to us, we’ll just have to keep pushing Korean dramas down everyone’s throats.

javabeans: Back to work, missy! Recaps don’t write themselves.

girlfriday: DON’T I KNOW IT.

Congratulations! Thank you all so much for providing these amazing recaps. Honestly, I don't know where I would get my kdrama fix. Life keeps me busy enough so I can't watch hour-long episodes, but I always have time for a 15 minute witty recap. You guys are amazing - thank you for all your hard work!

+1

And even though I watch k-dramas regularly I still come to this site to read the recaps. I'm a forgetful person and reading the recaps help me to understand the storyline better and capture great moments that are missed sometimes.

Thanks and congratulation again, you guys totally deserve it~ ^^

Congratulations to all Dramabeans crews..!!

I hope more "Dari" Dramabeans can "build" in the future so more people can have better understanding about Korean Culture especialy from entertainment side.

Maybe this is lame idea but from next year can you put "Like thumb" on every article in this blog? and also information about how many people already read the artilcle.. ^^

Beacause sometime reader don't have time to write opinion even they like the content of it but we want to appreciate the writer hardwork and insight on it by giving our "likeness" also for others who not read it yet would found that article is worthy to read.

Thank you and more power to DB in next year! Mansei!

Congratulations DRAMABEANS!!!! You ladies RoCK!!
I know that because of this site, I have expanded my preferences in Kdramas. I started probably like everyone else, watching some of the most popular romcoms but have expanded to other genres, thanks to you.
Keep up the good work!

Chukha chukha! Thanks for all your work. I know you love what you do, but it's a lot of hard work and you guys still stick to the high standards of writing that you started with.

Also, personally I'd like to thank gummimochi, who suckered me into watching Monstar with her recaps and thus sent me down a long road of Kdrama and Kpop that I'm still loving!

Congratulations!! You guys do deserve it, I truly enjoy this website and the recaps. Like other people have mentioned you guys make watching more enjoyable and are very helpful when it comes to understanding the puns, jokes, references and the culture. I had a suggestion, I know you guys are really busy but maybe you guys could make posts on buzzfeed?
They let people from websites and outside posts post in community. A lot of people visit that website and maybe if you guys made a post for "Reasons to watch Kdramas" and a "Guide for beginning drama watchers" it might grab the attention of more people. Maybe expand the wave? Just a suggestion.

Congratulations! So happy that you guys won the award. Well deserved! I've been reading your recaps since 2012 back when I was still in college! Now that I graduated, I read your recaps on bus rides when I can't watch kdramas on the go. Thank you :>

Woohoo! Raise the roof! Congratulations DB, GF and the rest of the writers' gang. Most of all, congratulations to this community. This is an intelligent band of k-addicts you have here. The recognition is indeed well deserved. It is about time too. there is great service being done by this site, not only for a community to get together thus building social capital but also strengthening the hold of korean wave, thus cultural capital. Now, if only media in korea will recognise it too. That will be something.

Dear Dramabeans, you fully deserve this award! Funny as it may seem, without watching K-dramas (and Dramabeans is an integral part of it) I would have never gotten interested in Korean culture... I wouldn't have tried Korean food, I wouldn't have bought books about Korea, I wouldn't have visited Korea and I wouldn't have started Korean language courses. Look how a TV entertainment changed my life :--)

Thank you for all the extra information and explanation about Korea you provide in your recaps and podcast. A true bridge between cultures... with a lot of fun... and abs ;--)

Congratulations!
