Yong-pal: Episode 8

There’s no dearth of feelings in this episode, and jealousy is to blame as a catalyst for most of them. But everyone who formerly wanted a piece of Yeo-jin now thinks they can do without her, even our hero—though he never sacrifices who he is at her expense, and even when he tries, the results are actually pretty endearing. A hero who can commit to everything except for being a bad person is a keeper, and Yeo-jin’s certainly got enough people (even a nun!) telling her so. Some things you gotta just figure out for yourself.

EPISODE 8 RECAP

Since Tae-hyun is still a patient in the hospital, Nurse Oh and the head nurse giggle as she tickles his nose with a lavender branch in an attempt to wake him up. Tae-hyun deadpans from his non-sleep that he’d sneeze and bust his stitches, to which Nurse Oh is all, Shut up, you’re fine.

But his team disperses when Chae-young comes to pay him a visit, and she teasingly calls him a turncoat for sending her out of the hospital that fateful night, even though it was to save her life. She recognizes that now and thanks him, but says that he now owes her for saving his life.

He doesn’t understand at first, until Chae-young points out that all this personalized medical attention he’s getting isn’t free. Tae-hyun says he’ll pay her back, prompting her to place her hand on his, flutter her eyelids, and ask how he’ll pay her back.

Tae-hyun takes his hand out of hers and jokes that it won’t be like that, but their flirty banter catches the attention of Yeo-jin. She is not happy.

Nurse Oh helps keep up the ruse that Yeo-jin is the comatose factory worker who tried to commit suicide, though she finds a difficult patient in her since Yeo-jin won’t eat or drink anything. She reports that to Tae-hyun, who rises out of bed despite his still-healing injury.

Everyone’s having Yeo-jin-based hallucinations now, since Chief Lee finds himself hearing echoes of her whispering “Murderer” at him when he goes to her room.

He pulls back the bed sheet expecting to see the dummy, but instead finds her there, staring right into his soul. But then he wakes up from his creepy dream, safe and sound in his office.

Tae-hyun goes to visit Doo-chul and his lackey, who are in full body casts after the big scuffle. It’s funny that they’re so swollen and hurt that they need subtitles when they talk, and equally so when they start crying in fear at the sight of their incompetent but well-meaning nurse.

Speaking of, Detective Lee comes to the hospital to present pictures of Doo-chul and said lackey to Head Nurse Ahjumma (I’m just calling her that because it’s ridiculous she doesn’t have a name eight episodes in), who claims she’s never seen either of them.

He keeps probing, eventually asking whether any doctors at their hospital perform house calls. Nurse Ahjumma says there’s no way, while Tae-yong interrupts to say it wouldn’t be unheard of. He grabs Detective Lee’s attention, so they go to the hospital cafe for a chat.

I’m getting Gaksital vibes (never a bad thing) watching Tae-hyun sneakily eavesdrop on their conversation, which centers around the identity of the infamous Yong-pal.

Detective Lee is sure that Yong-pal’s a doctor at this hospital, which gets Tae-yong thinking. He doesn’t say anything though, and their conversation is interrupted when the corrupt chief of security comes to shut them down. Lee calls him out for obstructing justice, at least until the chief calls his boss directly and has him chew out his subordinate.

Tae-yong passes by Tae-hyun, and it definitely seems like he suspects him of being Yong-pal by the look on his face. Afterward, the chief of security ironically asks after Tae-hyun’s health (considering he shot him), and tells him that Do-joon has invited him and Chief Lee out for dinner tonight. Declining is not an option.

Tae-hyun stops in to see Yeo-jin next, and it’s cute how he tries to make the rice water she refuses to drink sound so appetizing in the hopes that she’ll try some. She won’t, and keeps shutting down anything he has to say by telling him that she wants to be alone.

He thinks she’s mad at him because he wasn’t able to be in the surgery room like he promised, but defends that he couldn’t have known that Chief Lee would pull the stunt he did. On the bright side, she’s alive, isn’t she?

She doesn’t see that as much of a boon, and Tae-hyun’s attempts to cheer her up end with her raising her voice as she tells him to leave her alone. Then she says in a soft but firm tone that even though she knows he risked his life for her, she can’t stop hating him.

Her reasons are unclear, but she tells him all her concerns in one steady stream: she’ll never have her old life back, everything will be restructured while she’s “dead,” and even if she rises from the dead, she’ll have no power as long as President Go and Do-joon are in cahoots against her.

And if she were to come back, she’s sure that they’ll spin the media coverage so she’ll inevitably be returned to Do-joon’s custody and either end up locked away again or killed. Tae-hyun cuts right to the chase: “So are you saying that I should’ve handed you over to President Go?” Yes, basically.

Tae-hyun argues that President Go and Do-joon are both crocodiles (so, ruthless mercenaries), to which Yeo-jin replies that she’s also a crocodile who’s used to living among her kind. “But because of you, I’ve been pushed out of the water.” Jeez Yeo-jin, gratitude is a thing.

Along with Chief Lee, he’s treated to dinner that night at Do-joon’s grand estate, though Chae-young warns him beforehand that Do-joon invited him to either buy him out or threaten him. Chief Lee, meanwhile, has more Yeo-jin-based hallucinations.

So when Do-joon tells Tae-hyun that he should take his sister to the United States to get treated on his dime, Tae-hyun bows and acts thankful on the outside while on the inside he realizes that Do-joon’s taken the buyout route.

Do-joon is well aware that President Go made this same offer to Tae-hyun, but is soothed when Tae-hyun aligns himself with his offer rather than Go’s. He takes the same bribery route with Chief Lee by offering him the hospital director’s position, citing the recent stabbing incident and the director’s age as reasons he should probably retire.

The chairman skewers the bleeding steak he serves like a caveman before reminiscing about his and Chae-young’s first meeting in New York over grilled meats. It’s with bitterness that he recalls how he was just Yeo-jin’s errand boy then, and how his father sent her to study abroad but not her half-brother.

He takes subtle jabs at Chae-young throughout the one-sided conversation, venting his resentment about always being considered as beneath Yeo-jin despite the fact that he’s technically the eldest son. And, more importantly, he makes sure to mention how Chae-young must have looked down on him for his low status, which really seems to be the sticking point for him.

Despite drama laws dictating that there’s no death without a body, Do-joon seems to be operating under the assumption that his sister is a corpse as he drunkenly sighs that she’s better off this way—she’s with her fiancé in the afterlife now. He sent both of them off himself.

“You’re all my accomplices,” he all but slurs to everyone at the table. Besides, he defends without any provocation, it’s not like he personally killed anyone. That’s what Chief Lee is for, right? (Chief Lee: *gulp*)

He then instructs his secretary to kill his accomplices if something were to happen, which Chief Lee takes very seriously even though he claims he’s joking. Yeo-jin’s warning about Do-joon eventually killing him too rings through his mind.

Do-joon brags about how he’ll have his sister cremated and buried next to her fiancé, but has a slip when he adds ominously, “If he just kept his promise with me, he wouldn’t have died like that.” That’s when his secretary intervenes to take him away, because he’s getting a bit too chatty with the wine.

Tae-hyun’s left with Chae-young afterward, and he asks her honestly why she’s not nicer to her husband—he seems to be suffering from a lack of affection, he adds, which is an apt observation. She laughs the idea off, claiming she’s lacking affection too.

When Tae-hyun asks her about Yeo-jin’s fiancé, Chae-young sighs that he was a great guy who just happened to be the heir to Daejung Group. If he hadn’t been, he would’ve been perfect for Yeo-jin. Despite their backgrounds, the two of them still fell madly in love.

Flash back to when Yeo-jin had first woken after the accident, with only her stern father by her side to tell her that her fiancé didn’t make it. She just screamed and screamed from her hospital bed with grief.

“You took away the person most precious to me, Father. Watch carefully. I will take away the person most precious to you,” we hear her say in voiceover as she takes the suicidal plunge from the window that landed her in a coma in the first place.

But her father actually liked seeing her asleep, so much so that he instructed the staff to keep her in that state until the day he died. That way, she could stay as his beautiful daughter and not try to kill herself because she hates him.

In the present, Tae-hyun asks how Yeo-jin’s father knew when he would die, and Chae-young explains that he had advanced pancreatic cancer at the time. After creating a fortress for his princess to sleep in, he died six months later, though she never woke up because of Do-joon.

Chae-young believes Yeo-jin to be dead, and thinks she picks up grief from Tae-hyun’s expression, enough for her to know that he liked her. In turn, Tae-hyun asks why she doesn’t love her husband (again), noting a bit strangely that VIP floor patients like her whine more than other people. Well, duh.

Later that night, Tae-hyun injects something into Yeo-jin’s IV, presumably so that she can be safe during the car ride he takes her on. She wakes up as the sun starts to rise, and Tae-hyun’s only explanation is, “We’re escaping. Just like you wanted.”

But Yeo-jin remembers this street with horror as the one she and her fiancé drove on before their fateful crash, and the trauma from that night starts to seep into her present. Tae-hyun, ever the gentleman, stops the car and gets out so she can cry to herself inside.

She looks betrayed when he finally stops at a church, because it’s the same one she was going to get married in. He knows that, and says so as he uses a wheelchair to bring her inside.

“I thought this would be the best place to take you,” he says solemnly. “This is the end to your lost memories. Now you’re free. You can regain your strength here. Go back to the world of crocodiles. Chairman Han agreed to help treat my sister.”

What he’s actually saying registers quickly for her, and she simply answers, “Bastard.” He doesn’t refute the claim, nor does he try to defend himself when she asks if she became too burdensome for him now that he figured out how to help his sister.

“That’s right. You’re a big burden,” he says without meaning it. He puts a phone in her hand and tells her she can call either President Go or her bank in Switzerland—it’s too dangerous for him to continue keeping her at the hospital. So he’s just… leaving her here?

He makes sure to add that though no one knows her number now, the second she makes a call, the tracking process will start. He cautions her to use her one call carefully, before she asks why he’s doing this.

“You belong to a different world than mine. I momentarily forgot about that. And I hate being jealous over a dead man.” Tae-hyun leaves her on that note, and she cries to herself once he’s gone.

But a passing priest mentions the car that’s parked outside the church still, and Yeo-jin knows it must be Tae-hyun’s. She uses her one precious call to speed dial Yong-pal, telling him that if he doesn’t come back in thirty seconds or less, she’ll never see him again.

He couldn’t leap any faster from that car, and runs to find her on the church grounds while yelling, “Yeo-jin-ah!” When he finds her, she asks how he could drop to such a familiar name with her in all seriousness… before breaking out into a wide smile. Aww, you two.

The priest allows them to bunk in the church’s lodging for the night, but makes sure to instruct them to make room for Jesus—as in, they’ll have very separate bedrooms. Tae-hyun wins both the nun and Yeo-jin over when he makes sure the light will stay on for her (since she’s afraid of the dark).

A crazed Nurse Hwang has been pestering Do-joon’s secretary for the last two days by calling him from a pay phone and demanding that he return her to Yeo-jin’s side or else.

She threatens to spill what she knows about the nefarious CEO, but is cut short when a truck runs her phone booth over. Aww come on, we’re lost Cynthia and now Nurse Hwang too? This is some serious restructuring.

The truck of doom seems like President Go’s doing, and when we next see Nurse Hwang, she looks pretty dead. Next to her is a picture of her and Yeo-jin together and smiling. For what it’s worth, Do-joon’s secretary had no part in her death(?), and is angry that President Go and Do-joon conspired behind his back.

Tae-hyun and Yeo-jin realize they’re just separated by a wall when they can’t sleep at night, so he knocks on it gently from his side to see if she’s there. She smiles and knocks back. So cute.

They hang out in the church proper, where Yeo-jin tells him not to hate someone who’s already dead. Tae-hyun acts like he suddenly doesn’t know what she’s talking about, but she continues, “He died because of me. Because he loved me. I still remember it so clearly.”

Three years may be enough for some people to heal from such a wound, but living in the prison of her mind made that impossible, when all she’d do was relive the memory day after day. “Can you wait for me?” she asks tentatively. “Until my scars heal.”

Tae-hyun’s silence is his assent, but at least he opens up to her about why he was keen on getting them out of the hospital—the police had tracked him (as Yong-pal) to the hospital, and her brother plans on holding her funeral soon. They can’t hide the fact that she’s alive much longer without being caught.

So if he took her out of the hospital for that reason, she wonders, what was he going to do with himself? “Me? I’m a doctor,” he says proudly. A doctor who makes good money treating gangsters in need, which he’ll go back to doing.

“But… if I didn’t call, were you really going to leave?” she ventures, getting a nervous chuckle out of Tae-hyun for her trouble. “Why did you call me then? What about all the crocodiles?” he returns. Neither of them can explain themselves.

“You said I could only make one call. The call I could only make once… that’s you,” Yeo-jin says. Tae-hyun reaches over to take her hand in his, before he leans in…

…And kisses her.

COMMENTS

It’s really a shame that two of this show’s most interesting characters got the boot in such a short span of time, because while I had no great love for Nurse Hwang (unlike the adoration Cynthia’s badassery inspired), I loved how completely and totally insane she was. There were a lot of layers to her, from the caring mother figure who loved Yeo-jin as a living doll to the if-I-can’t-have-you-no-one-can aspect of her that was legitimately frightening at times.

What really cemented her as someone I wanted to find out more about was when she heard what Do-joon and the hospital director were planning to do to Yeo-jin and reacted instantly, even if it drove her into a murderous frenzy. She acted to protect Yeo-jin, and it really makes me wonder what kind of relationship they once had for them to be in a picture together. And I’m worried that by (presumably) offing her, whatever secrets she held about Yeo-jin’s past might never come to light.

But that’s a topic for another day, since that kiss. I’m not quite sure how to feel about it, because while I love the two of them together, I was actually more on board with their adorable friendship and wasn’t expecting it to advance so suddenly. Though I guess it’s not that suddenly in the scheme of things, since we can point to their budding friendship as the bedrock for their romantic feelings for each other and see where small shifts occurred to lead us to this point.

And I’m sure I’ll be just as on board with them once the initial shock passes, but again, I suppose I shouldn’t be shocked when the foundation was already there. I’m also extra grateful that the show didn’t make Tae-hyun into a bad guy like he so desperately wants to be sometimes, because that’s something I definitely wouldn’t have bought. But Tae-hyun saying he’s going to look out only for himself and his sister only to instantly regret it and feel sorry for ever suggesting it? That’s our Yong-pal.

Plus, it was nice to see Yeo-jin be proactive in that moment by calling him, and there’s just something about knowing a person well enough to make an ultimatum like she did that just works. She was banking on him needing that little extra push to do what was already in his heart, and the gamble paid off in a big way—but I do wonder what Tae-hyun plans on doing about his sister. Then again, I was wondering why Do-joon’s offer was the only one available when Yeo-jin’s should’ve still been totally viable. Maybe it made his decision to abandon her only to instantly change his mind a little moot, but I guess you can’t blame the guy for shopping around.

Is there a rule for K-Drama to have their OTP kiss at episode 8? No?
I like their budding relationship before, and I think there's no need for it to be rushed like this especially if it'll be extended for 4 episodes. Or maybe the writer didn't have any plot to fill in so that they can show their relationship grow a bit more.

They should take a lesson that OTP romance and kisses cant save a drama or any episode, if not properly developed then it also can ruin the interest of viewers....

@fantasy

Interesting observation. So too few kisses or kisses too late in the show will frustrate viewers and also kisses thrown in without (according to the audience) sufficient build up to them will also annoy viewers somewhat.

This site will be so good for all PDs and would-be PDs to read LOL! So informative! :D

I thought many people liked the romance but I am amazed to see that many disliked it also. It is not a new thing, even not very early, kiss in episode 8 is most common in k drama, but I cant see any foundation of their relationship to come to this far....

as Yong Pal said that Do joon will take care of the fund he needed for her sister but also aware that he cant really hide the truth of YJ for long, then what is the plan?? will YJ give him the money as promised? Sorry I cant help worrying about So Hyun

Thank you Heads for the recap. This one helps me a lot to understand the whole plot of the story, since the translation some tv made in my language was not accurate in some parts of the scene.

I would say 'chill..calm down' too to myself (or anyone who find the urge to drop this show). Though I agree there's some scenes that seem unnecessary LONG as the twilight meddow-like scene in YP's dream (it took one whole song of that Angel song sang by WLife!!). The length of the scene made me sigh really hard then move away from my screen for a little drink :D But, I notice some people do fall in love with someone after certain person appear on their dream. Some people in this world do think that it is somehow a message from haven. Despite some technical reasons behind, well...

Aside from that scene, I can still take it. I even feel grateful becoz the writer tell us more properly about other characters been through such as HDJ dan CY's love story. We haven't seen/heard enough of Do Joon at least until eps 5. While Yong-Ae was asleep, the writer focus only on YP. Hence, in these two eps, i feel that the writer give us a hint that DJ and CY will make a bigger role to the rest of the show.

Last but not least, I saw more KDrama, be it for 16 or longer eps, put a love confession between hero/heroin in eps 7 or 8. Like Mask, Healer dan That Winter The Wind Blows.

Joo Woon is pretty new to me, but I can see he has brilliant acting ability. KTH's acting is not exceptional, but true there's more KDrama actresses out there that need to fix their acting more badly than her.

I somewhat found reason to what happened in episode 7 and 8. I get it. Personally, I would have preferred if they went a different route with the romance BUT I get it and I'll take it. I cannot help it because they are too cute. I love that they have these serious and light conversations. Like what HeadsNo2 said, the foundations for their relationship were there. We were shown the little moments. Personally, I think I was just used to how other kdramas take forever for the couple to confess or the routines they go through such as bickering, hating, courting etc.

This show is really pushing itself to be different. Its pacing is different. We even got so many revelations from the beginning. They were unexpected and I was left questioning what will happen next. These were the kind of revelations I'd expect to see later on. In addition, the show killed unexpected characters. It keeps on giving these surprises. Now I'm not sure if being different will make this show victorious or end in sad demise, but I am going to stick around to see it through.

I am not opposed to going against the norm. It is refreshing, but I just hope the writer knows what he's doing and have enough interesting material (especially if the rumored extension is true) to last until the very end.

Do people expected this drama to be something like The Time I've Loved You, where friendship turns into romance in a span of 16 eps?

I think what yong pal was trying to do was to force yeo jin to drop the idea of joining forces with president Go. She really mad at yong pal because he didn't hand her over to President Go. But Yong Pal realised that deep down in Yeo Jin's heart, She already knew that Yong Pal was already made a right decision. Because in the end, it's not President Go or Bank of Switzerland that she called. But Yong Pal. Yes, Yong Pal who sneakily already put his own number on speed dial number 1. Daaam he's so cute.

This is a proof thay Yong Pal never had any idea to leave Yeo Jin. He even didn't move an inch from parking lot. Holding his cellphone, waiting Yeo Jin to call him and looking relieved when she did.

I don't care what people say I love this couple as hell. :)

Not sure if someone else mentioned this already, but does anyone think there's a slim chance Nurse Hwang might still be alive? I wonder this because of the photo with her and YJ. They looked quite chummy, not like she was propping YJ up in her bed and taking a selfie. That is something that needs to be cleared up.

I am not giving up on this drama yet ☺️

Reading comments and questions here makes me think that viewers are not ready for this type of show yet.

While you can accuse the drama for a few "too miraculous" medical liberties or cheesy choice of song(WestLive's Angel) or that the romance didn't get your heart to beat faster, I don't think you can say it is full of logical gaps and plot holes. There are hardly any things which you can't figure or answer if you observed closely or think about.

What the drama did not do was to show every step and thought process yet the writer has written the characterization of the leads very well and some like Chief Lee, Chae Young, Do Joon and Nurse Hwang are just waiting to be revealed. That alone makes me piqued.

Viewers take issue with the romance not making sense. How did TH and YJ fall in love? The problem is because viewers has certain expectations on how "Falling In Love" must be shown. Would the problem be solved if after preventing Yeo Jin from cutting herself in their first meeting, TH mutters: "She looks beautiful" or when TH and Yeo Jin were talking to each other, drama shows them thinking "How I enjoy talking to him/her!" or have TH smiling like sunshine as he carries out his doctor duties, play mind battles with the villains and fight with thugs? Or have TH stare at YJ for a full minute on the rooftop when he leap to her side after she fell?

Viewers also call show out for skip in logic because they failed to show certain things. Take for example: someone questioned how did Tae Hyun managed to get a pot of lavender when he was lying there, fighting for his life. Does the show really need to show him when he first opened his eyes or the nurses telling him that it's Yeo Jin in the opposite bed or him getting hold of that lavender?

This post from soompi may help:

TH : Can you get me lavender?

Head Nurse: Why?

TH : I think Yeo Jin might like them?

Head Nurse smiles: How do you know?

TH smiles back: I just do. Can you please do me this favor?

Head Nurse: Where do I get lavender?

TH: Doesn't the florist on level 1 sell?

Head Nurse: Not sure about lavender. Should I get other flowers if they don't?

TH : It has to be lavender.

Head Nurse: Why are we even having this conversation?

TH: Because the viewers would question and point this out as a plot hole or flaw in logic.

Head Nurse: Shall we continue then?

TH: Why not? It could help the PD in the extension.

Head Nurse: Wouldn't they then say this is a filler?

TH: You have a point. I think we should cut short our conversation.

Head Nurse: Now?

TH: Yeah, because there's this webtoon where the lead character talks to the nurse.

Head Nurse: Yeah, I should just stick to hacking computers.

I completely agree! We've been too conditioned to want the "falling in love" moments to be a certain way, so when it steps outside our normal comfort zone, we start criticizing and nit picking at the little things.

And dramas will be twice as long if they showed what happens every step of the way!

And that's what happens with our constant overanalysis and the never-ending nagging. I'm not saying I don't like tropes. On the contrary, tropes make kdramas and vice versa,- let's face it, that's why I loved them.
So, I don't know how to interpret a kiss between a man with a crush (obviously!) and a woman who just faced her dead fince's grave for the first time after 3 years. We have to agree that this is not the norm whatsoever in kdramas. The love affair between this OTP could have very well been the story of a completely different drama and maybe more than 16 episodes, right? We have all watched similar plots, haven't we?
However, those funny lines of yours depict the core of the problem. Doctoral thesis-like analysis of kdramas spoils all the fun (at least for me) and peculiar Q&As start to float around. Let's all slow down and start (re)enjoying, otherwise less fun is ahead.

I may be the minority here, but I enjoyed episodes 7 and 8. I thought it was a nice break from all the action and blood filled episodes that we've seen so far. Episodes 7 and 8 allowed our couple to interact a bit more and to put a cap on the mixed feelings they have for each other.

I think it's unfair to judge a drama based on two episodes that decided to take the route of establishing a romantic ground for our OTP, but to each their own. Maybe it was slower and decided to focus more on our OTP, but it's important to establish the romance early on so we can focus on the bigger issues at hand, Tae Hyun's sister and Yeo Jin's revenge. I'm sure the next episodes will focus on those two issues and our OTP can continue their romance as well. Many dramas take forever to get to the romance part. The characters do not confess until the end of the drama. There's lots of bickering and denial in between and I personally find it repetitive and tiresome.

I actually like the fact that Tae Hyun and Yeo Jin are able to have normal conversations with each other and thoroughly enjoy each other's company. The romance is believable. Lots of people fall in love at first sight. Tae Hyun and Yeo Jin are two people who have suffered greatly. Although they may be from different worlds as Tae Hyun states in episode 8, they eventuly find solace in each other because they are both broken. Yeo Jin is the vulnerable, but quick tongue princess who sees Tae Hyun as the light at the end of the tunnel and Tae Hyun is the humanitarian and overprotective doctor who finds Yeo Jin intriguing. Their similar situations bring them closer to each other and they comfort each other. They are essentially each other's saving grace. Sure there aren't many scenes of their romance growing, but there's no doubt feelings can emerge through the minimal interactions between the two.

I didn't expect the kiss, but I am not complaining. I don't think it happened too soon. I think it was just a nice way of saying, "hey, our feelings are mutual", not so much saying "we are a couple now"! A kiss doesn't necessarily mean they are an actual couple. It doesn't seal the deal. It's not a goal to achieve in establishing how far a relationship has gone. It's just one of those things when you feel it is the right moment and you do it. Tae Hyun initiated the kiss and Yeo Jin reciprocated. It was a moment shared between two people who care about each other. And that's okay.

Honestly I find kisses in Kdramaland to be so cringeworthy. Especially the forced/drunk kisses and then the occasional slap that comes afterwards. I think we've gotten so used to it happening in Kdramaland that we just think it's normal and we just let it pass by without much thought. I prefer a kiss to be shared between two people who like/are in love with each other. So seeing two adults (like in Yong Pal) who have feelings for each other kiss normally is refreshing.

+100 on: I prefer a kiss to be shared between two people who like/are in love with each other. So seeing two adults (like in Yong Pal) who have feelings for each other kiss normally is refreshing.

---RIGHT? RIGGGGHHHHTTT?? It's so refreshingly and genuinely GOOD!!! That's how you kiss in real life, you know?? ^_^

I couldn't agree more. Plus, we see that Yeo Jin reciprocated. I would take this anytime over the usual deer in headlights type of kisses. I can't wait to see more kisses from these two as their relationship develops and the romance grows!

Thank you for the recaps!

As with many other viewers, I felt that the romance to be too rushed. It seems a bit forced.

I have no issues with everyone seeming to be fond of Yong Pal and all deciding to help him. Cynthia helped to cover up despite the fact that she knows Yeojin is still alive. ( how on earth did she though, unless it was by chance that she saw them together on that roof? ) ER nurse whom he did ONE single surgery became an instant fan and had no qualms substituting the factory suicide worker to help cover up that Yeo jin is still alive, I can accept since hacker-ajumma/Head Nurse asked.

The biggest problem I had with episode 8 is laughably the flash back scene where Yeojin throws herself out of her window, by smashing through the glass. I would have preferred her to jump out an open window for realism. The idea that a building window glass is thin enough for a frail girl to throw herself with a small run and break through, is just....WHAT....

I will be watching this drama cautiously.
Unfortunately so far it has failed to keep up with the amazing tension it has built up for 6 episodes. All to fizzle over this weekend. But story wise, I still feel for the characters, so here's to more Yong Pal!

Personally, I do find these 2 eps interesting. Yong Pal genre is Medical, Action, and Melo-romance. Medical and action are shown in the first 6 eps, so is it not the time for romance? These 2 eps are times the two leads build trust with one another and arrange their mentality to fight in the further eps. This is not an ultimate for them but the calm after the storm.

Honestly, I do enjoy the script in their romance. Love happens unconditionally. Romeo and Juliet love each other at first sight and shall die if they can't be together, so shall we blame shakespeare for such harsh love? Can't Taehyun and Yeo Jin have the same deep romance? We also experience this kind of love in reality.

It would be better if detective Lee involves solving Nurse Hwang's death and tries to find out any issues related to Yeo jin based on the photo at the crime scene, and then with Yong pal's help, he can catch President Go and Do Joon. Also, will there be a plot that Joo won as a doctor will help Yeo Jin prove to all shareholders that she is capable to raise the hospital's reputation so she can compete with the Crocodiles like President Go and Do Joon.

I am not sure if such plots will exist, but whatever it is, I will keep watching Yong Pal. Joo won is too good to drop out.

No one is going to see this on the second page, but I have to say my number one favorite scene in this episode is the one where Yeo-jin is upset with Tae-hyun and turns away from him on the hospital bed. Why? Because it bothered me in episode 6 that Tae-hyun ignored Yeo-jin's expressed wish to form an alliance with President Go and decided on a different plan without her knowledge or consent. Sure he was doing it because he didn't trust President Go not to harm her, but Yeo-jin's whole problem is that. because various people wanted to use her as a pawn, her agency was taken away in the most literal way possible by keeping her in a vegetable state for three years. So I was pretty disappointed that the first thing Tae-hyun does is to take away her agency as well, even if he was doing it to "protect" her - which honestly is a ridiculous justification when his plan was a million times more risky for her than any of the alternatives.

I was surprised that I didn't see a single comment about this, so it was a relief when the drama itself acknowledged that Yeo-jin had a right to be upset with Tae-hyun even though he saved her life. And I was also super happy when she referred to herself as a crocodile like her brother and Chairman Go. My one wish for this drama is to see Yeo-jin regain her agency and become a crocodile once more. I can forgive the drama anything if that happens, but the one thing that will ruin the drama for me is if they continue to make Yeo-jin the damsel in distress just so that Tae-hyun can look cool as her knight in shining armor.

Thank you for pointing out. I have forgotten that Tae Hyun ignored her wish. He did say that he has another way when she expressed her lack of choices but they never showed him telling her what his plan is and she agreeing to it.

This is why I find that contrary to all the comments here about the drop in standard of writing, loopholes and all, the writer has written a tight storyline with many details. Maybe it's too much for the audience because it does not allow lazy watching and requires you to follow closely.

For the "who gets Yeo Jin" fiasco, I had to run through President Go, Do Joon, Chief Lee, Chae Young and Tae Hyun's plans and make sense of what's happening and what went wrong.

When I read viewers' comments and questions here, I have to run through again what was said and transpired to see if the drama left some questions unanswered by mistake and if it's a loophole. Even I am surprised that there's hardly. Most of the questionable ones left standing are the medical realities(which some have cited that it's rare but possible), the over dramatization eg. Yeo Jin's fall from the building and scenes which are left out but can be assumed or deduced. I am fine with these types because it's a drama. I am less tolerant of lack of logic and major plot holes.

This is really true. Add to that the part where she sees him being all chummy with Chae Young, and she feels used all over again. I first took that as jealousy, but later I realized that it wasn't, really. She just felt totally powerless and out of the loop in her own life.

But he does make amends to some extent with the phone and her choice to call whichever number she thinks is right. Without his even being a stated option. She does trust him, even after all that. She just needs some time to think it all through.

Also, I would like to thank so much for the recap. You really have shown all the detailed plots in the drama and make it even more interesting.

Once again, these two episodes are the calm before the storm. I have watched them many times already and can't get enough of it because the romance is very deep and romantic.

I will look forward to the storm after this calm, their love, their struggle. Also, Joo won has not known that his mother died because the doctor left to attend Yeo Jin on the day of her accident yet. I really want to see how Joo won portrays such feeling since he never fails to impress me for better or for worse.

Totally onboard with SS. I like most people was a bit surprised at the kiss but it had me very excited and anticipating what obstacles are gonna get flung at them as a couple now. They are a secret couple so thats gonna be interesting. So instead of being so upset about the kiss like most people, im glad that got settled quickly so the focus can be on HOW the love that the couple has found for each other will survive its tribulations and emerge triumphant! And this is a spectacular kdrama....one of the best ive ever watched. I love it to bits!

I did find Ep. 7 a bit draggy. But Ep. 8 was solid, in my opinion. The dinner party scene was full of exposition. TH found out about Sung hoon and the origin of Yeo Jin s coma. Nurse Hwang s murder cemented how ruthless Prez Go and Do Joon can be and the kiss gave us what we all wanted for TH and YJ: a coupling.
Its funny that most people don't see TH being the kisser, for being such a guy thing which is what it is/was. TH shd be, I dunno, applauded, I guess, for being so bold and certain that he's into YJ and to want her to be aware. It was such a male in action move I couldn't believe it was in a kdrama. Ill bet the male viewership would've probably find less offending than the female viewership (but I'll bet they'd prefer to see more action though, lol).

Thank you for this recap :)

It’s too bad that – at least for me – the last two episodes were not as good as the first 6. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t get why the writer slowed things down and I still do hope that the next episodes will make up for it. So here are my thoughts about the loveline in episode 8:

First of all I love dramas that want viewers to actually think and guess about situations. Good example: Healer – Healer was not perfect but it invited viewers to be constantly curious about the characters and the plot.
Bad example: Doctor Stranger and Age of Feeling. Doctor Stranger took me to a point where I was so sure that North Korean Girlfriend is the highlander or at least a cyborg considering how often that girl died. And somewhere along Age of feeling almost every important decision was made off-screen and sometimes the show didn’t even bother to explain or inform viewers.

The thing is all this smart drama-thinking for viewers doesn’t work for lovelines. I guess that’s what surprised me. I was not ready yet to accept this friendship as love. Yes, I know that YJ and TH will eventually have this epic love But personally I think the jump between “Hey buddy, did you sleep well?” to “Please forget your dead ex-boyfriend and be mine!” was so sudden. This friendship was definitely a foundation and I totally saw the potential of these two falling for each other. But I didn’t have that “Oh finally they realize that they love each other”-moment. It was more like a “What? They love each other? When did that happen?”-moment. While I do think circumstances can lead a couple to love I wished that the writer would have given us more of their inner feelings. Just a little bit more would have been enough for me to see why things turned out that way. I get that the writer wanted to be subtle about it. But a lot of people didn’t get that intention and that means it probably wasn’t done in good way. I decided to take it as it is since the loveline is not my priority in this drama anyway :D

I will miss Cynthia – that cool chick. And surprisingly I’ll miss head nurse Hwang as well. She was so damn creepy and insane that I actually enjoyed watching her (well I was totally shocked every time she did something crazy but that’s what’ll make me miss her :D). We still have Chae Young who hopefully will remain as an enjoyable character (Oh how often did I see cool second leads being totally ruined and destroyed in order to protect the OTP?).

Last but not least: did anyone else get a feeling that Yeo Jin’s ex-boyfriend might not be the good guy after all? I don’t know. It feels like his intentions weren’t as pure as Yeo Jin thinks. He did love her – but did he approach her before he fell for her? I could be paranoid though. Something I learnt from dramaland is DON’T TRUST ANYONE! :D

(sorry for my lacking English)

@Liya - "But personally I think the jump between “Hey buddy, did you sleep well?” to “Please forget your dead ex-boyfriend and be mine!” was so sudden."

Hahaha... ikr... that was my first reaction too. But if you think about it (and as many have also pointed out), there were definite hints already that he was growing soft towards her. I think on some level, at the point where he asked if they could be friends, he was already "in like" with her at the very least. When he was administering CPR, I think the feelings were already beginning to be more than that of friendship - perhaps mixed with responsibility and friendship-love, but it was definitely clear he wasn't going to give up on her. When he was on the operating table and the dream sequence happened, it certainly showed an awakening of his subconscious - he could have dreamed of his ailing sister or late mother, both of whom he clearly loved a lot, but he didn't. And in the dream sequence, it was definitely clear he was glad to see her, and not just because she was a friend.

By the time he woke up and realised she had survived after all, I think he was quite certain of his feelings. It was now a matter of YJ accepting him, and so when she did and the feeling was right, why not a kiss? :)

(And I agree with you - Romeo could not have been a good guy. Something is amiss.)

I think we were expecting romance to develop, of course, but I didn't feel anything from the two leads.

Like what everyone said, it felt forced and did feel rush. It came really fast, instead of developing naturally. And the writer has now 24 episodes to do this right, so why rush a critical element in the plot.

Ep 7 & 8 felt something was missing. You can tell that the live-shooting is affecting this show.

The revenge and action part pulled me inot this drama...i love revenge stories. Kim Nam Gil's Bad Guy is still one of my favorite kdrama.

I wish for romance to stay in the 2nd plan and will not become a force to drive the plot. I mean i liked the romance part and don't have problems with it.

And this is the first time i actually wish for a medical miracle in a drama. I want Yeo Jon to rehabilitate soon, so she will be able to move around freely, cause even if i like their romance scenes until now i don't want them to be all like he dragging her around in the future and Tae Hyun making all the cheesy stuff to/with her. It would made him boring. Or at least bring intense/ funny conversations like the one they had in ep 5 in Yeo Jin room, that was so good.

In my opinion Tae Hyun doesn't suit the cheesy part. I like his character in first episodes when he was acting he is no good person but actually was and Joo Won's expressions were priceless.

About YJ and TH having feelings for each other, I don't think it's that rushed. The most obvious is TH : 1) he opened up to YJ when he didn't to any other women 2) he took a bullet to protect her and he was ready to die from blood loss to be able to revive her. And while he was recovering, I guess he had time to think and I'm sure that's when he realized he had feelings for her. As for YJ, I think she fully realized she had a thing for TH after he left her alone at the church. However, I also think YJ isn't as hooked as TH yet.

I don't think the kiss was rushed. for example in discovery of romance the lead lady kissed the second lead guy after knowing him for less than 5 minutes just because she thought he understood her. The kiss might put their relationship one step ahead but she might even pull off from the kiss in the next episode. Anyways I saw new stills for the drama at joo won's fan club in which taehyun is leaving for the us with his sister. can't wait to see what happened in the next episodes

Wow. The number of comments on this episode is amazing! I can't keep up!

I don't know why some are saying they will drop this drama because of episodes 7&8 - I find myself all the more intrigued after these 2 episodes actually. I definitely can't drop it now. I have too many questions!

While I find the "romance reveal" a bit sudden, I don't think the kiss was misplaced. A couple more scenes of friendship building couldn't have hurt given the extensions (though granted, extensions were not yet known at that time), and I reckon more night-time conversations over physiotherapy could have given us more insights on some of the back stories and other characters. But well, that's that, so we move on. Since he had already told her he likes her, and she clearly knows it and in some ways she has also accepted him by making him her one call that counts, the kiss is definitely not misplaced. So I do agree with @Matt's POV on this aspect of the story.

I mostly have questions still though that I can't seem to figure out.

@SS, I asked in the Ep 7 recap, but since we have all moved on, I shall ask them here (and to anyone else who might have an inkling):

I still don't see how TH could have not known he was pushing a dummy - was his original plan then to hand YJ's body to DJ? Because if he had believed it was YJ he was pushing, and he was ready to hand that over to DJ, then it means that he was ready to put YJ in her brother's hands. We later know however, that he had no intention to hand her to either... so I am still inclined to think he actually knew there had been a body swap.

Also, Chae Young saw (in ep 7) Chief Lee pushing a "body" back into Youngae's room - was she still then assuming YJ to be alive, or she believed by then YJ to be dead? Afterall, by the time they had dinner in ep 8, the conversations all around pointed to the belief that YJ is dead.

*curious*

As for Nurse Hwang, in the current timeline, she's been killed off, but given the photo clue, I doubt she's gone from the series yet. She might come back in some backstory reveal still. It's just a pity Cynthia is really gone because there's been an official announcement about it already.

And - I'm still wondering whose account TH's sister is going off to the States on. I'm assuming she would already be gone by now... otherwise how to survive? Brother is already on the run...

TH was the one who called Do Joon to reveal President Go’s plan. TH’s plan was not to hand YJ over to President Go. He was unable to predict his part in it and thus he felt it was too risky.

He therefore needed Do Joon to come in and intercept President Go. Once YJ is handed over to Do Joon, TH expects DJ to instruct Chief Lee to kill YJ. But TH has already prepared Head Nurse to fake YJ's cardiac arrest fooling Chief into thinking that YJ is dead. Then TH will take over as he always does and revive her. Or Chief Lee might hand over the whole 'kill her' op to TH since it's a dirty job. When he is done reviving YJ, he will pushed her to the basement where Chae Young's men are waiting.

What TH didn’t expect was that Chief Lee had made the swap. That's why he tried to stop the Chief Security and got shot in the abdomen. He really thought the one lying on the gurney is YJ.

I find Chae Young more interesting than expected. She's hardly the one dimensional secondary character with a single purpose. Up to now, I have not fully figured out what her exact motives are.

Is she helping her dad in the power struggle led by President Go? Her dad seems to be a straight and decent guy and she is the one who's the mastermind. If she has her own agenda, what might it be?

She seemed to care for Yeo Jin but I remember that Yeo Jin did not like her(as shown at the party scene 3 years ago) and still does not trust her now. YJ said that CY has unfulfilled greed which stems from living with her person she doesn't love.

She hinted at a past love, a love that was unrequited, was she in love with Sung Hoon? But I didn't detect any bitterness in her when she recounted Yeo Jin and Sung Hoon's tragic love to Tae Hyun.

She believed that Yeo Jin is dead so technically, she has no more use of Tae Hyun. Does she really care for him or is interested in him or has some other use which we do not know?

I enjoy her conversations with Tae Hyun. Both are very smart and their dialogue witty. She teased Tae Hyun for naturally falling in love with a rich and beautiful heiress and Tae Hyun shot back with "your husband is rich and handsome, so why aren't you in love with him?"

Even if Chae Young is really interested in Tae Hyun, I don't see her as the type who would go against Yeo Jin just because of that. She has bigger plans to carry out. It remains to be seen if she will use Tae Hyun or be of use to Tae Hyun.

After reading some of the negative comments about the kiss, all I can think of is paraphrasing a line from "The Dark Knight" (I'm sure you've seen the meme):

"Keep a KDrama couple apart until the second to last episode and then have them discuss/actually getting married before they even go on their third date, and nobody bats an eye.

But have an adult KDrama couple actually admit their mutual attraction comparatively early in the series, and confirm it with a sweet kiss, and everyone loses their minds!"

I liked how the two confessed their feelings, void of sweet nothings which is so consistent with the situation each of them is in. And only after a rewatch was I fully able to understand what prompted Tae Hyun to kiss her. Anybody told of his/her importance to someone would feel elated and he showed it with a kiss. What I don't quite understand is why Yeo Jin responded seconds after asking him to wait until she's healed. I thought the typical wide eyed kiss would fit the situation best. But then again, as was mentioned is some of the comments, she already feels something for him but just isn't 100% confident it's romantic. Or it could just be spur of the moment between two consenting adults.

Tae Hyun said that he has a lot of gangster clients needing his services. Does that mean the badass doctor will be back? I kinda miss that.

Required fields are marked *

Yes, but does anyone actually like the wide-eyed kiss? I would prefer to never, ever see one in a drama again. :)

Really, who would do that? If someone kissed me and I didn't expect it for whatever reason, I would either just go with it and pretend I knew what was going on all along (if I liked the guy) or I'd push the guy away (if I didn't). And clearly she saw him leaning in for the kiss, so it's not like it was a total surprise.

"Wait for me" doesn't have to mean "please pine for me from a distance". It can mean "I like you, but let's take it slowly, and please be patient with me", which I think is more the case here. And I didn't get the impression that she was saying she wasn't sure if what she felt was romantic, just that she still needed time to grieve for her dead ex. She may have been thinking of him for 3 years, but she still hasn't had time to really move on, perhaps because of that - she's kind of been frozen in time.

Required fields are marked *

Nooooo!!! Not wide eyed kiss. They should be banished to the outer most realm of the universe!

I wrote somewhere but will post again my take why Yeo Jin kissed Tae Hyun back. You have to see Yeo Jin's words in context. She said that she was the one to be blamed for Sung Hoon's death, he died because of her. To others, 3 years is enough to heal the scars, but not her. She asked Tae Hyun to wait for her. I took this to mean that while she accepts Tae Hyun now, she needs time to get fully over Sung Hoon. She still has nightmares of the fatal accident and she can't stop blaming herself. She knows she has get over it to but she will need time to heal. Meanwhile, she asked for Tae Hyun's understanding and patience.

I think it's possible to start loving another person while letting go of your past love especially someone who has died and gone forever. It won't be easy for Yeo Jin and I think it's great that she is honest with Tae Hyun.

I like this so much better than say Yeo Jin likes Tae Hyun but refuses to accept him until she is totally over Sung Hoon. That might work for a 50 episode drama where she keeps denying her feelings for TH and he hangs around forever looking like a mop dog.

Finally, YJ says “You said I could only make one call. The call I could only make once… that’s you,” and TH swooped in for the kiss. I think that was enough for TH to know how YJ felt towards him.

I made a response earlier in the first page to Matt's first comment on the kiss and "relationship" between Taehyun and Yeojin where I agreed with his comments and I still do agree with what he said. However, got an addenda to add about Yeojin: per her admission, she too is a "crocodile" and I'm afraid some mixed up times are definitely ahead for our "couple". While she may definitely like Taehyun, there is no way you can safely say that it is beyond her to "use" him now or later. Sorry to put this "negative" possibility out there, but I felt I had to. There are to many hidden agendas out there for this "romance" to have smooth sailing; I actually foresee future conflict, misunderstandings about motives and alliances, etc. This couple will most definitely have their work cut out for them to reach any kind of happiness together. I say we just enjoy the sweet moments while we can, because conflict and crisis is abundantly waiting around the corner.

I hope Yeo Jin has already trusted Tae Hyun fully. There were times when I think she still don't know if Tae Hyun really is helping her or if he's conspiring with others. When she was in the ICU beside Tae Hyun, she saw Do Joon visit Tae Hyun and thanked Tae Hyun for working for him. We saw Yeo Jin being confused and suspicious about this but luckily, this was already clarified in the Church Scene. However, like what SS earlier mentioned, I also thought that Yeo Jin was suspicious of Tae Hyun and Chae Young's exchanges in that hospital scene, more than being just jealous. Maybe that exchange also contributed to Yeo Jin feeling powerless with the recent turn of events and her consequent outburst with Tae Hyun in the next scene?

Me again: just had a thought about "Cynthia" and her rather sudden departure; I wondered if maybe her management company was worried about the potential of a plagiarism problem with Yong Pal and didn't want to run the risk of their model and actress being tarred with that feather. I could see a "mutually amicable agreement" being reached and perhaps the scene was written in such a way to get her out from under. I mean that her value as a viable agent was distinctly compromised and what better way to effectively write her out of the script? Just thinking out loud...

No way it is due to the plagiarism accusation.

Every time, you get a drama with good ratings, you can be fairly sure that it would be accused of plagiarizing. Recent dramas like Kill Me, Heal Me and You From Another Star suffered the same accusation. There are more.

It could be green-eyed monsters who are jealous of the drama's success and want to affect the image to pull it down. It could be the accuser hoping to get a free ride of publicity for his own work.

Netizens are also a strange lot. I still cannot wrap my head over how crazy anti-fans can be but in Korea, they are a force to be reckoned with online. This time for Yong Pal, I heard that a flurry of negative comments went online to bash the drama for plagiarizing. Then fans fought back and counter point for point why the accusation cannot stand and those online users disappeared magically, all at the same time. My friend told me of a conspiracy theory about hired online commentators, I find it hard to believe but seeing more and more madness, I am inclined to think real life is stranger than reel, right?

Reasons why Cynthia has to be written off:

1. Necessary plot-wise. Her allegiance has been exposed (that she was working for President Go). And being a smart girl, she knows that she might be killed by Pres Go or Do Joon soon. They have no trouble 'getting rid' of Yeo Jin, so it'll be easy for them to kill her off. Plus, president Go said it himself that they would have to get rid of the workers who "built the pyramid".

2. She and yongpal have this sizzling chemistry which could overshadow the OTP. Oh and because Stephanie Lee said this herself and I quote:

[NEWS] 15.08.31 ‪#‎Yongpal‬ Stephanie Lee's interview, 'If i appear a little longer, it could be a melo scene's between me and JooWon. Actually there was a mello part. There was a kissing scene of me and JooWon. but that part was omitted due to circumstance , it's PD's right to choose.'

I am not trying to become a comment-hog and until I recently started watching dramas live (Producers and then Oh My Ghostess), I would have been content to just read and not comment at all---there is something about getting caught up in a live show though.
Was re-watching episodes 7 and 8 to catch any nuances I might have missed, when a comment from Chae-young hit me; she was talking about the Romeo and Juliet love of Sung Hoon and Yeo Jin to Tae Hyun at the end of that macabre dinner: "Star-crossed lovers always seem to find each other and fall in love. The kind of love that nobody dreams of." She spoke with a sort of wistfulness which in her case is understandable. But given that we don't really know at this current moment what role (read that promise) Sung Hoon was really playing at (and I keep coming back to that little wink deal in the car during the chase sequence, which seemed to say something of hey, don't worry, I got this covered...), I really have to wonder if this really isn't a rather prophetic comment about Tae Hyun and Yeo Jin, unbeknownst to her, Chae Young, and what this bodes, for good or ill, for the two of them, I really can't say but wonder about...

Watch ep 7 and ep 8

You are

Tae Hyun

21.81 seconds.
More than enough for Usain Bolt to run the 100 metres twice.

(I am sure someone can answer you better. I wore out my keyboard and mind from typing replies.)

Can I just say, if it hasn't yet been said, that I think it's really significant that TH takes YJ to the church, telling her that that's where her last memories ended and so she should start from there again - in choosing to use her one call on TH, she's restarting life with love found at the same place she ended her "last chapter" with love lost.

Can't wait for ep 9!

I drop this series for now, cause I can't stand the looks of the lead actor... hahaha... Sorry, but since i'm seeing him on the screen, at least must be presentable to my eye sight lol .. ...

Apart from that, the medical scenes/ story are a mess, I just can't take it... (since Im working on that field)... Maybe I will wait if there's changes on comments, if it gets better... Then I'll continue watching it.... Now I wonder why still getting hight ratings despite of negative comments.... hmmm.... Suspicious... ;p

@Loyal-Healer-fan

I think you can drop this series FOR GOOD because even if the medical scenes/ plot itself is a "mess," I don't think they will change the LEAD ACTOR and HIS LOOKS.

Yong Pal is made for an audience and commenters that are mature and street smart just like it's main character himself. All the others are welcome to leave FASTTTTT! <3

Comment where you are appreciated--maybe in the next drama of the makers and actors' of HEALER. Skip Ahjumma, because she's totally owning it here in Yong Pal too.

Ah Okay then, Thanks for the recommendation NOT to continue it... At least then, it's out of my list for my pending drama to watch, since I rely sometimes on reviews....;p

Acting wise, I heard the lead actor is Good, and it's just that he's not my type... (maybe if there's a role that would attract me, hahahah)...

...I think the word mature won't fit but, it should've been of SOMETHING MORE SENSIBLE (plot).... ;p

I started watching Yongpal because of the lead actor and I have come to love the show. I love the character, Tae-hyun and how Joo-won has portrayed him.

That kiss....Yeo Jin asked for Tae Hyun to wait until her scars heal and the next moment Tae Hyun kisses her??? I dont get it. Although it's pretty clear Yeo Jin has feelings for him, its another thing to kiss someone when you are still not ready, because to me thats what Yeo Jin meant when she asked Tae Hyun to wait, she's not ready yet or am i reading too much into this????

See the last paragraph of Comment 86.1.2 of SS, Tae-hyun did not kiss Yeo-jin after she asked him if he could wait for her - he kissed her after she told him that if she only had one call to make, the person she would call was him. So, I understand why he kissed her then.

So she changed her mind in the space of 1 minute??? No worries, i think i sort of get it anyway, the moment required a kiss to happen, well in dramaland, so trying to pick apart the why of this and that will only lessen my enjoyment of the show. I'lll just roll with it :)

The kiss was a huge "wtf already?" moment for me, but I do think that the church thing and the romance was necessary to push things forward since he gave her an ultimatum and told her to make her choice which I still have no clue as to what that is since she has nowhere to go, no resources, 1 ally, and no plan of attack. Seems like they're not really planning things through and just yoloing the situation. The twinkling eyes and everything was ok, a bit awkward since they had like less than a week to build up their romance, but the kiss was definitely a deal breaker for me in these two episodes. If the story begins to pick up again I'll probably pretend episode 7/8 didn't exist XD. Also please editors stop spamming the same flashbacks, we get it. Car crash killed her boyfriend and she jumped out of a window that was already shattered before she jumped through it. I understand that they're filming this weekly and it's hard... but the flashbacks are beginning to make me -_-. Seems to me there's not enough content and they're just sticking things in during the fluff episodes so they can reach the designated duration of the show. Please tell me someone else noticed it these past 2 episodes XD

Aarghhh....aigoo... the dreaded mid drama dtagginess and ridiculousness begins. I could have done without the kiss altho i do enjoy the chemustry between the leads. Guess the plot will be about how yeo jin and tae hyun expose president go and evil brother using all their ingenuity. Lets get cracking, show !

The romance is ruining the show. Sorry. I just don't think it's always necessary. And why make episode 7 & 8 full of that fabricated emotion tugging BS? The icing on the cake? The more speaking parts there are for Kim Tae Hee, the more I realize how she can't act. I hope the direction of the show changes. Again.
