Backhugs and schoolgirl crushes on Strong Woman Do Bong-soon

Someone’s getting handsy. I didn’t think Park Hyung-shik (Hwarang) would be training tiny Hulk Park Bo-young (Oh My Ghostess) when she’s the one hired to be his muscle, but apparently he’ll be teaching her to control her massive strength and harness it into self-defense moves (better to protect him with, I’m sure). Though judging from the latest teaser, she’s not going to need much coaching to wrestle him to the ground and turn him into a human pretzel.

Park Bo-young stars in the new rom-com as a woman born with superhuman strength, who harbors a secret crush on her childhood friend Ji-soo (Fantastic), a rookie detective. He has no idea that she’s liked him all these years, and she’s very careful to hide her strength around him too, so he has no idea that she can crush things with just a slight touch. Chaebol CEO Park Hyung-shik, on the other hand, will put her strength to good use when he hires her as his bodyguard, to protect him against a dangerous unknown threat.

At the same time, when a serial kidnapper starts taking women off the streets, Park Bo-young becomes a key witness in the case, and Ji-soo runs to his friend’s side to become her bodyguard. So then he guards her while she guards Park Hyung-shik, and they’re forced to move into one house together for safety reasons (it’s for safety!). The love triangle will be further complicated when Ji-soo misreads Park Hyung-shik’s flirty ways as a sign that he has a crush on him, hee.

In the latest teaser, Kim Won-hae (Chief Kim, Hwarang) and Kim Min-gyo (SNL Korea) return to do another song parody, this time for Fly Superboard with Do Bong-soon as the heroine who keeps the riffraff in line in her neighborhood. We also get an introduction to the heroine’s family in a set of stills: Mom Shim Hye-jin (Kill Me, Heal Me) is a former weightlifter and the head of their household. The strong woman gene gets passed down through the women in their family, and though Mom is no longer crazy strong, she still wields all the power, and will fixate on trying to marry her daughter off to Park Hyung-shik.

Dad Yoo Jae-myung (currently playing Park Hyung-shik’s adorable bodyguard in Hwarang) is a former wrestler and a bit of a sad sack who just tries to keep Mom happy. He’ll have a sweet relationship with his daughter that makes them seem more like friends than father-daughter. And Ahn Woo-yeon (who played Dae-gu in Jealousy Incarnate) is the heroine’s twin brother, who got all the brains while she got all the brawn. He’s a first-year resident doctor and a sweet, dependable guy who’s more like an oppa to his big sister. So basically they’re all going to be adorable? I think I can deal with that.

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon airs Fridays and Saturdays beginning February 24.

If I am not mistaken, it's the theme song of a old popular korean tv show for kids. I remember Go Kyungpyo's character singing it in Potato Star. I also think they sang it on Running Man too.

It must be a reference to that show for comedic effect. I doubt it will be part of the OST...I hope lol

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon's premiere is just around the corner *yeah*, it also means Hwarang will soon be over *sigh of relief*

At least there's something positive that comes out of all this mess : Hyungsik has gained a lot of fans and proved once again he's an actor to keep an eye on in the future. Anyway, I was more looking forward to this drama than Hwarang...Main reasons : Hyungsik is the main lead (no SLS this time around), Park Bo Young is his leading lady (I couldn't have ask for more, love her) and Ji Soo is such a lovable actor that it's hard not to fall for him♥ (still I will choose Hyungsik over him *sorry*)

I am dying for Hwarang to be over. As much as I still want to see PHS looking pretty in that mane of glory, the recent episodes really made me feel like reaching into the TV screen and pull him out of that hot mess.

So happy that he is the main lead here and the boy can throw chemistry left and right. Just watching the promo, I can already feel the chemistry between him and PBY. And judging that he could have great chemistry with PSJ in Hwarang, I am fully onboard with him and Ji Soo's unimaginable love line. I could ship him with anyone - girl, boy and even my cat.

Omg, everything is oh so complicated for the characters but it's gonna be oh so much fun for us to watch! Hahaha.

I thought Park Bo-young was already cute, but High school Park Bo-young is ADORABLE! Omg, that pitch black short hair with straight bangs is so precious on her.

Her watching Ji-soo sleep is also amusingly sweet. Also love that mom's already wanting her daughter to be with the CEO, so I can't wait to be happy for her when they end up together. Ha! The characters all sound likeable and fun. Can't wait!

I am going to watch this for Park Hyung Shik. That talent needs to be redeemed by appearing in a good drama, though I still want to watch him in another sageuk. Maybe after this rom-com.

On a side note, though I love the premise, the only thing that annoyed me and always the case in K-drama is the heroine being unemployed. WHY drama why? It's always either under or over employed. Please make the heroine more useful other than just possessing that Hercules strength and being spunky and good-hearted.
