Premiere Watch: When I Was the Most Beautiful
by stroopwafel
Time slot: Wednesday & Thursday
Broadcaster: MBC
Genre: Romance, melo
Episode count: 16
It’s been so long since we had a romance-melo to look forward to, and When I Was the Most Beautiful is set to be a nice addition to our current roster of thrillers and rom-coms. Im Soo-hyang, Ji-soo, and Ha Suk-jin are at the center of the story, and they’re a love triangle to end all love triangles. Our two male leads are brothers who both find themselves falling in love with Im Soo-hyang. Ji-soo is the first to meet Im Soo-hyang and his puppy love quickly turns into full-blown devotion and he’s heartbroken to discover that Im and his big brother have fallen in love. Though happiness seems to be within Im Soo-hyang’s reach, Fate tells her not so fast, and tragedy occurs once again in her life. I’m excited about the cast, but leery about the fact that Im Soo-hyang is going to be in a love triangle with someone she meets in school — where she’s his teacher. But, since the actors are close in age, they may pull it off in a non-creepy way (here’s hoping at least).

I'm actually really excited for this one 😆
If there isn't enough angst and heartbreak to paint a wall with, I will not be satisfied!

This sounds quite interesting. I'm imagining that Ji-soo was a schoolkid with a crush on his teacher, she then started to date his brother (I'm sad already), but they broke up and then we're time-skipping ten years or so?

He comes back into her life to help her find her husband i.e. his brother while falling more in love with her. This is going to be great.

I was hoping that this would be the drama wherein Ji Soo gets the girl. *sigh* A love triangle with brothers is an old school trope that I am rather tired with. I would only check this out for Ji Soo and Im Soo Hyang so hopefully they will put a fresh spin on things.

That was exactly my comment!
I don't think I will watch until I know the drama is worth watching...

I wonder what's the tragedy??? The big brother will die and she remains with the second???
Or maybe she has an accident and has plastic surgery and then she doesn't look beautiful anymore???
I would be surprised.
Anyway, when is Ji soo not a puppy lover?? When will he get the girl???
I am so upset!!!

They said this is a pure melodrama. So if you miss them this is surly for you. :) Also Ha suk jin said his character have a dark side inside him that gonna be present later in the story. So yeah I think this gonna be a sad tale.

Not for me. I hate this trope.
I had a not so good experience with the last melo I watched.
I'll pass.

He's the main male lead in this drama. The other guy is the second lead. He's fully rose up to main lead! Now, Seo Ji Hoon has taken over the 'Ji-soo' second male lead' roles :3

I'm low-key intrigued with this. I like Melos when done well, but so many tend to be makjang, super dramatic, &/or overtly emotional lol.
2 yrs ago, I was craving Autumn In My Heart Melo vibes (This show was the OG/quite heart wrenching), and thought Boyfriend would do it but it didn't (meh/dropped after 2 episodes).
The last Melo I enjoyed was Love Affairs In The Afternoon (Great!). A bit surprised MBC gave the ok on a genre that has lost steam popularity wise.

Is Ji soo gonna be the male lead??
Okay then, I am going to give it a try.
I am not a fan of this particular genre, still I would love to see ji soo in the title role.
