High school romance hinted in new poster for Please Send a Fan Letter

Welp, it looks like fake-penpals-to-lovers wasn’t enough of a concept for MBC’s upcoming rom-com Please Send a Fan Letter. The latest poster reveals our two leads back in high school with cute vibes (that title treatment!) and a tagline that reads: “After all this time, come back to me again.”

Our drama follows the story of a dedicated single dad played by Yoon Park (Forecasting Love and Weather). His little daughter is terminally ill and he quits his job to care for her, willing to do anything for her happiness — including forge a fan letter response from her favorite actress.

Said actress is played by Sooyoung (If You Wish Upon Me) — and thanks to the forged fan letter, she gets drawn into the family’s story. That was more than good enough for me, but it looks like our two leads not only attended high school together, but had a fluttery romance. Hence, their reunion has a lot more at stake than the mere pretense of fan letters and the pressure of the ever-present press.

No matter how much drama-coincidence is thrown into this story, I’m 100% here for Yoon Park as a softy single dad. Give me that, and everything else is just an added bonus.

The script for Please Send a Fan Letter was written by Park Tae-yang and won an award at an MBC drama script contest. The 4-episode drama is directed by Jung Sang-hee (Showtime Begins), and will air weekly on Saturdays beginning on November 26th.

Yes more evidence that this will be a sweet little slice of life, rom com. I hope they continue to make these short run time dramas that have a glimpse into the characters lives but are neatly packaged so there are no loose threads or unnecessary padding.

I'm not exactly disappointed by the news that they knew each other/dated in high school, but with only four episodes, I worry a little that there will be too much going on for them to do justice to any one thing. Here's hoping my fears are unfounded!
