[Beanie Recs] Cast of Marry My Husband

Ahoy, Beanies! It’s time to gather your collective genius for a recommendation series that features you and your drama knowledge. Each time we’ll drop a drama conundrum and leave it up to you to provide a drama rec, and the appropriate rationale behind it, be it long or short. Respond below!

The cast of Marry My Husband was soooo good, I want to watch them in some other dramas. Sure, the Park Min-young dramas to recommend are obvious, but what are some dramas with the rest of the cast (Na In-woo, Song Ha-yoon, Lee Yi-kyung, Lee Ki-kwang, etc.) that you would recommend?

Have a very particular drama itch that needs scratching? In need of a Beanie Rec? Email us at hello @ dramabeans.com and we’ll feature your topic in a future post.

I thought the actors were kinda standouts in this compared to their previous dramas.

This was my first time seeing Na In Woo in a lead role but I've seen him in 2 other dramas: At a distance, Spring is Green and Mr. Queen.

I've only seen Song Ha Yoon in Please Don't Date Him.

I've never watched it but it had 2 seasons so there must be a reason why: Welcome to Wakiki. It's on netflix and Lee Yi Kyung is in that.

I saw Lee Ki Kwang as a judge on Peak Time and he was in a short drama, I think it 2 hours cut into 4 parts, called Twenty Years Old

I liked Park Min Young's Her Private Life

I watched Na In Woo in a secondary role in At a distance, spring is green (one of my favorite dramas).

Lee Yi Kyung was a funny secondary character in the lovely drama Go Back Couple (highly recommended), and he also was in Mirror of the witch (my favorite fantasy sageuk), playing a warrior monk (mane of glory, btw) who is one of the main characters.

You've not seen, um, Healer? If not, do give it a try. I hear through the grapevine that it's a pretty fine drama. 😆

To be honest, I watched the first two episodes two years ago, when I had been watching dramas only for some months (I had read very good reviews about the show, it was considered "a modern classic") but in that moment it didn't click with me, so I left it "on hold".
But I still want to give it another try.

Lee Yi-kyung : Children of Nobody. He's typecasted in comic role like in Descendant of the Sun, Waikiki 1 and 2, etc. But he's so good in serious roles too.

Lee Yi-Kyung: Who could forget him with LONG hair providing comedic relief in the Go Back Couple.

Na In-Woo: Her Bucket List, a short drama where he is a singer. I watched this while waiting for MMH episodes to air. I didn't even notice him in the movie Twenty because I was distracted by Kim Woo Bin, Jun Ho and Kang Ha Neul.

Song Ha-Yoon: She had a leading role in Fight for My Way, playing a totally different type or character.

Gong Min-Young: Just saw her in My Man is Cupid and Daily Dose of Sunshine.

Ha Do-kwon in everything, everything. Hilarious and touching in Sh**ting Stars, strong and vulnerable in Stove League, menacing and campy in Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938...

He’s simply wonderful to bring each character alive.

It’s interesting and delightful to me how deftly he uses stillness to create gravitas as well as pathos (at times).

I first watched him in Stove League and thought he was a real baseball player in real life. I’m dumb but that means he’s a great actor. He didn’t say much in that drama but that gravitas, wow.

A Park Min-young drama I'll recommend above all else is Her Private Life. City Hunter if you want to see a chubby PMY . If you want to see her in a saguek, Queen For Seven Days is your go-to.

Lee Yi-kyung... I've only seen him Secret Royal Inspector not Secret Royal Inspector and Jo-yi. Lee Yi-kyung sealed himself as a king of physical comedy in that drama.

Na In-woo? Watch Mr. Queen. He was so good there. It's my best performance of his till date.

Sadly, the only Ha Do-kwon recommendation I have is Penthouse 1,2&3.

My Song Ha-yoon recommendation? Watch Marry My Husband over again.

I just looked at their filmography and listed the ones I can recommend watching. Also threw in some variety shows for fun!

Park Min Young
- Sungkyungkwan Scandal
- City Hunter
- Healer
- When the Weather is Fine (one of my absolute davorite dramas of all time)

Na In Woo
- Mr. Queen
- 2 Days 1 Night (his variety personality "Na-triever" is so cute! And it seems he's a generally positive always-look-on-the-bright-side kind of person)

Lee Yi Kyung
- School 2013 (he had a small-ish role, but he was definitely memorable
- Hangout with Yoo (I only saw the One-Top/Juju Secret episodes, actually, but those were fun)
-Jeonyeokja (it's a Youtube show where he reviews different subway stations)
- his Tiktok is also full of funny content (at least what I saw of his channel before I deleted the app. Lol)

Song Ha Yoon
- Fight for My Way

Lee Gi Kwang
- Circle: Two Worlds Connected

The behind the scenes show Yi Kyung as such a nice guy. Like he could barely get through Min Hwan's lines without laughing at the shamelessness. I can see why he would get more comedic roles.

Now I'm kinda surprised how he got Min Hwan but I could see why he would want the role since it was against type.

Most of these have been mentioned but here it goes:
Na In Woo: Longing for you (he’s a lead in this one, playing a detective) , Mr Queen and 2D1N to see the contrast between his variety show character and his portreyal of Yu Ji Hyeok. Jinxed at First (if you don’t mind a little insane plot from what I heard), he has a supporting part in Mistic Pop Up Bar (I totally didn’t remember that was him). I actually only saw Mystic Pop Up Bar (which was a decent show), and some episodes of 2D1N.
Song Ha Yoon: Fight For My Way ( a good drama that will show you her acting range as she is the opposite of Su Min in this),or Please Don’t Date Him
Park Min Young: When The Weather is Fine( might be my favourite of hers, such a heartwarming show), Healer, Her Private Life. Plus others.

I haven't watched MMH yet but I can't pass up this opportunity:

My most favorite role of Lee Yi Kyung is as Lee Seung Joon's teenager counterpart in Nine: Nine Times Travel. It has been 12 years, but I became a fan ever since. He was also great in Children of Nobody. I hope he gets more serious roles after this.

I loved Song Ha Yoon in Sweden Laundry.

Lee Ki Kwang was quite the scene stealer in Circle, which was not easy considering the cast.

Ha Do Kwon in absolutely everything.

👍🏼 to Nine, 👍🏼👍🏼 to Circle, and 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 to "absolutely everything" - except Navillera, but that's only a bit part for Ha Do-kwan and you can get the important part of his performance in 2 seconds on @attiton's fanwall. HDK has been in a lot of good shows. You know how sometimes you discover an actor you like and go to their page on MDL looking for more, only to see a string of shows with low ratings? He's the opposite of that.

I will admit to having a little fun imagining Song Kang dancing away after that punch to the face, though.

@attiton, to be fair to Song Kang, I can picture him nailing a little ballet move about a punch in the face.

I have no watched Children of Nobody but I see it mentioned a few times here. Enlighten me!

It is a drak crime thriller with Kim Sun Ah as the female lead and Lee Yi Kyung as a detective helping her. I didn't like the conclusion to the story, but the acting was flawless.

I think SHY was really good in "Please Don't Date Him," which is a cute 12-episoder.

To be honest, I haven't cared much for Na In-woo in his previous roles; I always feel like I'm watching him act rather than becoming the character. He's decent in "Mr. Queen," though.

Gong Min-Jung is an actress I really like. Even when she's in a bad drama, her performance is always good. Like I didn't end up liking Little Women or Hometown Cha-Cha much but her performances in both stood out to me.

(reposting, cause I had to get rid of a nasty typo, hee)
Na In-woo did a great job in "River Where The Moon Rises" (a sageuk with the one and only Kim So-hyun). There is a lot of off-screen mess when it comes to this one, but he did so well considering that he jumped 1/3 way through + I believe this was his first leading role, so all the more respect to him. Having said all of that, I wouldn't really recommend it, lol. Just wanted to mention it, since I haven't seen it pop up anywhere.

Well, for Park Min Young must watch are Healer and I will go to you when weather is fine. If you have time and want to watch something fluffy go for Her Private life and What's wrong with secretary Kim.
The avoid are Forecasting love and weather and love in contract.

For Na In woo and Song Ha yoon, you must absolutely avoid Jinxed at first and Oh! Youngshim respectively.

I haven't personally watched below shows but I have heard great things about
Park Min Young - Queen for seven days
Song Ha Yoon - Fight my way
Lee Yi Kyung - Welcome to Waikiki 1 and 2
Lee Gi-kwang -Circle

One more for Song Ha yoon: Devilish Joy, in which she’s a very sympathetic hard-luck former idol fatefully entangled with Choi Jin hyuk’s chaebol neurosurgeon.
