Finally managed to watch the remaining episodes of Flower of Evil, and… Sigh. What a bunch of wasted potential it was. If they went all out on the premise they’ve started with (Hyun-soo being an actual bad guy), it could’ve been awesome, but instead it was all shot down quickly and went into old, clichés-packed borefest we’ve seen dozens of times. At times it was even getting ridiculous – episode’s 15 finale made me laugh like crazy, it was that bad.
It did have some good things to it, like the performances, but all I can think of is what it could’ve been. And I sigh.
(P.S. I mostly associate Kim Ji-hoon with his Flower Boy Next Door character Oh Jin-rak, who was a very earnest goof, so his Baek Hee-sung hit me over the head like a brick. It was over the top, so very over the top, but he was selling it so so well. And this sickly, ghastly, and deranged vibe he had, combined with the hair… Let me just say dayum 😏)
