So i just commented in a post about begin again that makes me think about its thai version and further about thai drama in general: dear thai beanie friends, is it that easy to get married (and divorced) in thailand? Why does like 4 out of 5 dramas i’ve watched (by percentages. I’ve watched more) are about contract or forced or forced contract marriage? 🤣🤣. Or i just picked the wrong title in general?
As I haven’t seen Begin Again but know the situation about marriages and divorces in Thailand in general, can you tell me exactly in which aspect you’re seeking your answer?
Is it that easy to get married and divorce in thailand? Just come to the official registration and done in a few hours?
Because here in indonesia, as much as i know (im unmarried), we need to be married in our religion to be able to regist for civil marriage. And as a catholic, it takes weeks to get the “license” alone. So its got me a bit of culture shock, i guess.
Or i just somehow trapped in a weird genre of thai drama?
You are right, it’s that easy. Registering for marriage here is as easy as going to the registration place and get it done within a few hours perhaps. The divorce is also that easy if both parties agree to it. There is nothing religious involved in terms of legal matters.
Ahahaha thankyou for ur explanation. I just so… culture shock (?) that i think to my self, Why so much contract marriage? Cant they have normal marriage between 2 lovers and not 2 strangers? 🤣🤣🤣.

I’m not married neither, but that’s pretty some general knowledge.
Glad I could be of some help. 😊
