I was not prepared for that episode.

So campy and yet so much heart. Campy melo. Is that a genre?

      Camp slice-of-life?

I think it will be an unpopular opinion on tomorrow’s recap thread, but I loved these episodes!! Like you said, so much heart. And the show really hasn’t gone as dark as it could – the plot points are there, but the tone stays warm. ❤️ Campy melo SHOULD be a genre!

I don’t think it was dark at all. Ep 13 was kinda mopey but still laughed. And Ep 14 was so actiony! I whooped when the Fang Gang dropped out from nowhere to take on Man-whi.

I agree. The overall tone is very warm.

I’m on the fence. Still processing. I may/may not be squaring off against you, my friend. But still very much invested.

This took me back to the campy action scenes of the beginning of the show. It was nice to laugh with/at the show again.

omo….at the end of ep 13 when the bars slammed down and BOUNCED ! like a rubber ball ! Well, I knew we were well past angst at that point.

But we weren’t, right? Off he goes, noble sacrificing and all that. Tho I have to say, those final shots of him… Was he on some boulders or a cliff—gasp—of doom? And she be running randomly on the streets.

Anyway, it felt soooo retro melo, I couldn’t take it seriously at all. And that’s a compliment. Perfect for the show’s ol school vibes.

I see your point. But since the stakes are kill her or die, it doesn’t fall into the noble idiot realm for me. I keep thinking I’ve teleported to Harry Potter “one cannot live while the other survives”… I cannot take it seriously. Nor do I think we’re supposed to. Nor do I believe that is the actual answer.

And yes! Where does this woman think she is running!? I hope she yells at him when she finds him. I was missing her sass these episodes. I think it was the concussion.

The BOUNCE seemed to pull it out of it’s mopey pacing. The gangs all together and people are actually communicating after an episode of being weird.
