Knight Flower episode 6:

The show is telegraphing that mystery dude with glasses is indeed Yeo-hwa’s not-so-dead husband, Seok Jeong. Why did he go missing? Pure, unadulterated speculation: His parents had discovered he’s gay, and rather than murder him à la Matchmakers, sent him away with a new identity, told him never to darken their door again, and fake-married him to Yeo-hwa as a cover story for both problems. He might also know about his father’s involvement in the late King’s poisoning, and Yeo-hwa’s brother Sung-hoo may have known about both that and not-dead Jeong’s sexuality, with both as a motivation for Lord Seok to order Pil-jik to murder the brother.

I see so many situational parallels to Matchmakers that I’m probably imagining them where they don’t exist. Feel free to poke holes in my theories or come back and laugh at me when I’m proved wrong.

So she’s still married… It’s not good for our ML 😅

He ‘died’ before the wedding. And she is a ‘widow’ because she was supposedly engaged to him.
If anyone can prove that there was no such engagement, then she is officially not married and free to go!

Right! But as I said over on the recap, he could possibly also prove that they never were really married, if he could show that the marriage was fraudulent, for example. Or – still speculating wildly – he’s not Jeong but can prove that Jeong was already dead before the marriage was arranged. I’m just having fun spinning my wheels here; I like how the show has set up this mystery, and I’m really hoping for a way Yeo-hwa can get out of her situation without having to pretend to be dead.

I’m curious how he escaped his father… He must be Houdini!

Oh, now I think you’ve made a very good case with the sticky rice. The show did pointedly mention how much the dead husband loved them. The rest of the whys and what-fors are beyond my imagination. But he was rather flamboyant in that scene.
