What is the spreadsheet project?
A beanies collective work to synthesise the Popularity votes by having better classification for the dramas.
Which genres or environments are relevant?
Comment if you are interested in taking part. Calling all list-loving beanies and those who love to class and analyse to play with @kmromrell@claire2009 and me.
I don’t think I can commit to a lot of time, but I’d love to follow along and have the opportunity to help when able! you can tag me in upcoming discussions ^^
No worries — that’s where I am too, and I’m hypothetically one of the ones heading up the project. I think this will be a long, slow process that we accomplish with time rather than with a short burst of energy. Happy to have you involved in whatever part you want to play. 🙂
@darwi, @claire2009, @cozybooks Okay, finally circling back here, and I think I’m ready to start this project if you all are!
First, though, one idea I’ve been having: While we originally started this project to clean-up the genres on the Top 10 spreadsheet, I think it could be nice to assemble a general spreadsheet task force of sorts. This way, as additional projects come up (e.g., future tallies, data collection, miscellaneous projects), we have a group of people that we know are interested, and then we can check-in and see who wants to participate on each new project. First question — would you guys be interested in future spreadsheeting/data consolidating endeavors? And if so, do you think creating a task force would be a helpful way to approach that? If so, I can recruit in the next Open Thread. I’ve been meaning to toss out our Bean Count poll tally/analysis there and put out an announcement about the shared Google Drive project for a bit, so I can include that as well.
Second, as we’ve talked about before, we probably want to do our main communication/brainstorming outside of this site to make it easier. Before, we talked about using email. Is everyone still comfortable with that? If so, my email address is included in the top left hand corner of the Top 10 sheet (hover over the “If you see any errors” bit). Would you mind grabbing it from there and sending me an email? For some reason, that seems a bit more internet-safe than just having us all post our email addresses here. 😅
I’ll start a group email once our current group has replied so we all have each other’s info. At that point, we can start figuring out our approach to the genre consolidation/categorization.
Cozy, I know you said you might be limited in how much you do, so let me know if you want to sit out of any of this. Otherwise, I’ll plan on including you in any communication and letting you decide when you do/don’t join in. 🙂
As fate have it, I’m also work-travelling this week. But the next days are going to be the setting up of the group, so I shall be more available when we’ll work.
I’m not totally sure where we are going, but let’s go 🙂
@cozybooks, I just started the group email, but I can add you in if/whenever you’d like. Just let me know if you want to join the email conversation. 🙂
