Thanks for introducing me to “tang ping” or “lying flat”. It had bypassed me. I read a bit about it and it seems to have started during the pandemic as a rational choice to get by opposing consumerism and materialism. Undoubtedly, the high housing prices and economic downturn among other factors have contributed to its growth. It isn’t good for capitalism but much better for our embattled Earth.
