Scandalous album cover w/ nekkid 14-year-old Anglo-Burmese lead singer Annabella Lwin was an homage to Édouard Manet’s Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe (1862-1863). This was par for the course for the band’s manager, Malcolm McLaren. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_D%C3%A9jeuner_sur_l%E2%80%99herbe
Musician, impresario, and clothing designer Malcolm McLaren (manager of the proto-punk New York Dolls and The Sex Pistols, and creator/promoter of Bow Wow Wow and other bands) was a major instigator of the punk and new wave scenes. His girlfriend and collaborator, fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, was hugely influential in her own right. McLaren introduced Adam and The Ants to the African tribal drumming that came to be known as the “Burundi Beat.” It accompanied the band after their split with Adam Ant. The Ants morphed into Bow Wow Wow with the addition of 13-year-old lead singer Annabelle Lwin in 1980. And the rest is history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malcolm_McLaren https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivienne_Westwood
