So I’m staying with this lovely woman and her sister in Sokcho for the next three nights, who were most impressed I knew so much about New Journey to the West (lol they should meet a real fan of it) and they went out to walk the dog, ordered me chicken and gave me the remote with their netflix login.
So I spent my fifth night in Korea eating fried chicken, drinking soju… and finally, FINALLY getting to watch Kingdom.
Or well, the first two episodes at least. (And legally too, even though I downloaded it lolol)
So far… I wouldn’t reccomend eating whilst watching this show. Like … it’s doable. But … Yeah. And especially not chicken…

First thoughts:
It’s so well produced. I love the cinematography. That opening? Chilling. I love the dry humour. I like the slightly different take on how the zombies work (or at least, different to me). I like the fact they have a literal Zombie King. Like I get to say that. Over and over again. Zombie King Zombie King Zombie King. People are still stupid and open things they shouldn’t though. *Smh* and it’s slightly predictable so far but I like the fact that *SPOILERS* they essentially caused a zombie outbreak just because they wanted the king to stay alive to suit their political machinations. How very depraved. Lol. I mean sure it was accidental bio warfare but STILL.

Oh and… This might sound kinda insane but THEY DID THE CANNABALISM THING. Ahem.
Story time
Once, an… accquaintence of mine was asking people if there was any meat they would never try, and the subject of human flesh consummation came up (as you do), and some people said, in their morbid curiosity, they would kind of like to try it.
The only thing I had to say in response to all this was “well that’s fine but don’t eat too much or you will go insane”.
Because consumption of human flesh, eventually causes the brain to break down and you … Go insane. You know… kinda like a Zombie…
Well. Ladies and gentlemen, when Kingdom used CANNABALISM to spread the Zombie King disease, well you could colour this morbid nerd impressed. Sure cannabalism isn’t the cause of this er… Undead outbreak, but it’s still kinda cool that they used it in some way, on purpose or not.

Also, America, I may only be two episodes in but please take notes on how to do a zombie show.

P.S. I would be so pissed if I was that peasant and Bae Noona and I’d just finally contained the flesh eating werewolf zombies only to have some rich kids from the city come and let them all out again like WOW REALLY GUYS
P.P.S. as horrible as it is that evil guard killed the eunuch for no reason I couldnt help but think “at least you won’t become a zombie dude. It’s honestly preferable”
