I paused the scene and I’m struggling to continue. This is like Night of the Chimera’s Cry from Fullmetal Alchemist all over again. I’m that stunned! What are you going to do now, Wei Wu Xian?
I’m at ep 11 and *squeaks* getting bored. I blame myself – can’t seem to get into fantasy genre and also, if I have to see another zombie, I’m out.
So throw me a bone. There must be something in store which endeared this show so much to the audience. Otherwise, beside smiling at funny Wei Wu Xian and laughing at the hilarious subtitles, I have nothing left.
The backstory is long but necessary. Zombies are part of Wei Wu Xian’s powers so can’t do without it. The reason behind this and Wei Wu Xian’s path to becoming the Yiling Patriarch and practicing demonic cultivation is compelling though and I don’t want to spoil it for you. It gets pretty dark for him but he doesn’t lose his sense of humor through it which is surprising. Also, I’m in it for him and Lan Wang Ji. This is a BL-based novel and although with China’s censorship, they adapted it quite well. The family aspect is quite great, too. I hope you can stick with it. All we can do with shows is try and see if it sticks. I have very short attention span these days and this show managed to hang through.
@outofthisworld, do they really used the name “The Tortoise of Carnage”?? I paused for good few minutes to laugh a bit and google but didn’t find anything about blood thirsty tortoises on English speaking world wide net.
I checked and it seems it’s 13 or 14, in the cave. I wonder if they supposed to meant turtle, they can be carnivorous and fast in water, but tortoises draw different picture for me.
I’d translate it to The Killing Tortoise. The adjective used means slaughter or massacre. The creature was described as a look alike to the mythical Black Tortoise so it won’t appear in any legend.
Yeah, managed to pull through and I’m back to the current timeline. I’m now at the point where I’m excited and want to marathon but I have work tomorrow. *sigh*

@shach In Watcher, the moniker was chosen because once it bites, it never lets go. So I guess Tortoise of Carnage wasn’t that far off after all!
