I started Stove League yesterday and literally gobbled up 5 episodes in a single seating!
I looooved it! I can’t wait to catch up!

(Why isn’t this getting recapped…? *tears*)

I really like our Main Trio, especially Namgung Min as General Manager Baek. So smooth! So confident! So mysterious! I can see the shadow of the titular character Chief Kim in his smile and some of his mannerism and I love him even more !!!

Operations Manager Lee is great too. She’s a devoted fan and devoted employee, and you can tell that she’s passionate with the way she runs to him for “explanations” on his decisions. I quite like the way he quietly/firmly/rightfully put her in her place. Her reaction was gold, in this era of entitled Leading ladies: she understood and let it go. No ranting and raving and drinking in some little shack bar, telling the world that her new inexperienced boss is arrogant and doesn’t know how much she loves her team. Nope! None of that immaturity. GM Baek later proved himself, and I can see how she trusts him more and more as they spend time working together. The same goes for GM Baek: I find that he’s slowly opening up to her – and Junior Han – about his decision process. It would be awesome if the Writers did NOT add a loveline between GM Baek and OM Lee. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Overall, I like that there isn’t really a Bad Guy of the day, but rather, it’s Hurdle of the Day and how they navigate through, in and around them. The supporting cast is experienced, and they make for a great overall ensemble.

It didn’t even matter how unknowledgeable I am about most things baseball. I was so into the show yesterday that I talked to the Husband about it, asking why it is that a Korean team seemed to need a foreign player. Husband knows nothing about baseball, but said that in basketball (he’s a big fan), it’s to add Star Power to the team and draw viewership, marketing dollars, etc. I feel somewhat more informed now, as I proceed with ep 6 later today.

Happy Watching, dear Beanies !
