Kim Mi-kyung began her acting career in 1985 as a member of the renowned Yeonwoo Mudae theater company. She then landed her first big screen role in the 1986 sports drama Lee Jang-ho’s Baseball Team. She has since made a name for herself with her memorable portrayals of supporting characters in both TV and films. In 2013, she received a Special Award at the SBS Drama Awards for her work as So Ji-sub’s interfering aunt in the horror romantic comedy Master’s Sun. She also made a mark for her mother roles in 2013’s Heirs and 2014’s It’s Okay, It’s Love, which both aired on SBS. In 2016, she once again played mother roles in the tvN series Oh Hae-young Again and the MBC daily drama Person Who Gives Happiness. Her performance in the latter won her a Top Excellence Award at the MBC Drama Awards. In 2019, she portrayed the titular character’s mother in the drama film Kim Ji-young: Born 1982, which earned her several Best Supporting Acting trophies including one from the 25th Chunsa Film Art Awards.


Kim Mi-kyung and her husband have a daughter together.
