Well it looks like battle ship island won\’t be breaking even in korea. They need 7 mil but are still stuck in the 6 mil range. Meanwhile taxi driver that premiered a week later has hit 8 mil.

is lee seung gi planning to stay in the army? why does it feel like he\’s been gone for too long?

I know right HAHA Is he in the marines ? Their service time is the longest.

    0
    1

If I’m not mistaken, 21 months for army and marine corps, 23 months for Navy and 25 months for Air Force. So he’s either in Navy or Air Force.

      1
      1

Wow Air Force is the longest o.o I’ve only heard about the Navy. It might be one of them.

i bet the people in the criminal minds episode 4 comment section are really missing the downvote button right now…😂😂😂

I think the people on both sides of the fence are probably missing it right now. I am missing it too. The troll is really ridiculous, trying to dictate how the audience watches the show, then calling people dumb for not being “intelligent” enough to decipher the show.

    3
    2

my thoughts exactly… am deeply angered at how he/she thinks its okay to call people “dumb” just because they share different opinions.

One of the other beanies mentioned that they wished there was a report button, I’d prefer this than the return of the down vote button.

Haha I’m not even watching but the comments made me visited the thread. lol.

One of the things I like about Dramabeans compared to other kdrama communities is the rarity of trolls. Must say that it’s a bit disheartening to see that kind of behavior.

umm…woman of dignity just got 9.986% rating..highest for a JBTC drama..This makes me wonder if am missing something…is the show awesome and we just haven\’t discovered it yet?

It’s my crack ! It’s a really well done makjang and Kim Sun Ah is killing the show with her acting skills.

    3
    2

Agree. The way she plays Park Bok Ja. Wow pretty impressive acting skills. This is the first drama that I see her in, later I will try to see her other dramas.

I can only recommend you the fabulous My Name is Kim Sam Soon where she’s one of the most relatable heroine in dramaland.

      Bok Ja!

I am enjoying the drama. What drew me in was the character of Park Bok Ja and how different she is from Ah-jin. This drama took me by surprise because I was not going to watch it. I recommend the drama if you want something different.

the only thing am taking away from criminal minds since i\’ve decided to drop it after 4 painfully bland episodes is the knowledge that moon chae won also has bad acting moments.

right?!…it’s because it moon chae won..that’s why i haven’t just written off the person as a bad actress….she’s having some bad acting issues in the show.

rewatching W coz kang chul’s continuous teasing for No 4 is always gonna bring me back to the drama every single time. And a big yes to dressed in pink lee jong suk. oh my heart

IKR? I wasn’t expecting how much I would hurt at the end of E13 when they revealed that twist. Took me a looong while after the credit rolled before I regained my senses and even then I still couldn’t process.

Well done Show for making me a blubbering mess

i’m amazed at how much i like reunited worlds..i still think throwing people like they’re a grain of rice thing is too funny…but am really interested in seeing how hae sung tries to fix his family

well the pace definitely seemed picked up this episode…and everything feels much better. so a big YES to watching criminal minds ep 3 next week!

    Oh so it’s gotten better?

    1

it’s not great just okay but i think the pace picked up…am not really interested in the characters yet but i did feel an emotional pull during one of the scenes….as of now..i’m more interested in the criminal cases than the criminal catching team….and i have a two week break and plan to use it to watch a lot of new dramas…so,i think i’ll put it in my list. To be honest…i’ll make my final judgement after next week..haha

maybe..its me..but after a second watch..i swear am finding faults with the acting of most of the key characters in criminal minds. yes..i mean..lee joon gi, moon chae won and the profiler ahjussi.

    What’s the issue?

I have not watched but plan to check it out. I’m afraid that Forest of Secrets has set the bar very high for crime/thriller genre and acting. I’ve become very allergic to the usual kdrama style.

    2
    3

this is why I still haven’t too despite I’m very much looking forward to it. I’m still in secret forest ‘world’.

      1
      0

maybe that’s what’s wrong with me too…maybe i should finish forests of secrets first before i continue this..because the show feels very lacking in comparison to FOS and even lookout..and it’s annoying since i really want to enjoy it…the characters dont seem to have any charm..i want to be excited but its not just happening..haha

Just because you post this, I am now watching CM 😜.

        Will be back to report!

          am waiting..maybe you’ll enjoy it!

          1
          1

Ok, I have just finished the episode.

First, I must say I have no idea or recollection of the original Criminal Minds. I watched some of the very first season long long time ago. So you can say I am watching the Korean remake with ‘fresh eyes’.

Secondly, I am not a fan of Lee Jun Ki’s acting. I’ve read people raving about his acting prowess and I feel quite differently. However, I am stubbornly weird or weirdly stubborn in that I like to find what is it about him that everyone is so amazed with. So, I’ve tried dramas like Moon Lovers which did not change my opinion. I am watching CM and hoping that this might just be the role which I like of LJK.

            My verdict:
Story – nothing special. Not bad but not fantastic. After all these crime shows, I don’t find this exceptional. It could be an issue with the storytelling too. Let’s take FOS for an example. When all the secrets come out in the end, we might find that the whole web not as out of the ordinary as we think. I mean corruption is corruption, right? However, the difference is the way the story is told and unfolds before our very eyes.

Directing – I found the colors quite interesting and appreciate the change from the norm. However, I don’t like the way the camera zooms in onto the actors’ faces(namely the trio) and lingers for a while. It makes the actors look awkward and come off as unnatural.

I usually like Son Hyun Joo but he comes off as not very natural here. It’s like he’s trying very hard to be cool and deadpan. There were flickers of good acting here and there though. In comparison, I’d say the ahjussis at FOS like Yoo Jae Myung are better. Also, very still and cool but doesn’t come off as trying hard if you know what I mean.

I really like MCW in some shows. I don’t have a huge issue with her here except that again, there were a couple of times I felt she was trying too hard like Son Hyun Joo. Maybe because her character is boring and flat. Otherwise, I think she’s fine. It just makes me appreciate actress like Bae Doo Na. She’s at the level where you can’t tell she is acting.

I like Lee Jun Ki here better than in Moon Lovers. I think I have the most problem with him when he does emo roles. Not a fan of overacting and canned expressions.

There is a chance here since his character is hot headed and has a baggage. I already dislike his character the most, not LJK”s fault though. He seems to be the most dumb and reckless. I will find it very hard to root for him if this continues. I don’t care how passionate or how hurt he is.

Strangely, I miss Kim Young Kwang while I was watching this. Where are the layered characters?

Forest of Secrets definitely has ruined me for another thriller. I checked the first half episode of CM, but it felt somehow dry. I have a hard time connecting with the characters. Maybe I’ll pick it up after FOS ended if I hear many positive things about it.

      1

I was wondering the same thing, FOS set the bar ridiculously high so if I watch it right now, I’ll compare. Maybe Joon Gi should wait till I am not thinking about FOS all the time. Also, FOS last episode is 90 minutes that is a whole feature film length in run-time………so yayyy

My mantra: Lower your expectations, and don’t watch same genre dramas back to back 😊

i’m having a hard time connecting to criminal minds in any emotional way..it’s missing something..don’t know what yet. i’ll watch the second episode to decide.

5

I guess it’s because the 1st episode had such a fast pace…before the emotion of one scene sink there are too many other scenes… I watched it twice… it was really better in 2nd watch

    2
    1

The directing and camera-work felt clunky, and the acting felt awkward at times. I’m having a hard time getting absorbed by the show.

    2
    1

exactly! i wasnt going to comment on the acting because i thought maybe i’m just too tired and am missing something…but based on the actors the show has..i expected mind blowing, in depth acting but sadly…what i got felt a little bit bland. Am gonna watch the second episode to decide how i feel about the show.

Moon Chae-won is especially disappointing (the perpetually dour, sort of half-angry expression doesn’t help), but Jun-ki and the profiler ahjusshi have their awkward moments too.

I also dislike the way that shot the profilers’ exposition scenes. They look like a bunch of weather reporters.

I also feel that some of the dialogue is supposed to carry weight that I don’t feel the show has earned yet. Like MCW’s “screaming” line when she tries to persuade the ahjusshi to get back to work. It’s supposed to be meaningful but it feels hollow.

        1
        1

I agree with both of you. Episode one lack emotional depth, both in acting and directing category…the main things that I liked so far was LJG and MCW bickering relationship and ahjusshi and his wife lovely relationship
