Today is my first day of working at home since my university closed last Wednesday. I just started my new job in admissions a month ago so this should be interesting. It’s hard to recruit new students to the school when I am unable to travel or hold events. It’s also hard to learn the ropes of a new position when you’re not able to meet face-to-face with your supervisor and team members. I’m trying to remember it’s not my fault. Everyone in higher education (and literally every other industry) is being challenged right now.

I still may have to go to campus this week. Right now we are taking things day-by-day in terms of making the transition to working remotely. Also, there are some functions of the job that may require the whole team to meet in person, so we are trying to determine how to work around that or how to maintain social distancing if we are all in the office. In these uncertain times, I am thankful for my health and the health of my loved ones. I am also thankful that I have the privilege to work from home. And I am thankful to have a community of Beanies to turn to. Hope everyone is staying safe!
