LOTJ New Zealand P2: “Filmed during Cyclone Debbie and Cyclone Cook in MarchโApril 2017, the worst storms encountered in the history of the show.”
…typical NZ, also, I remember those.
What does LOTJ stand for? Lord of the Juice? Judge? Jazz?? Hahahaha. But seriously. A cyclone is like a hurricane right? I’m so glad I live where the only natural disaster is earthquakes.
Law of the Jungle hahaha, the variety show.
Yes a cyclone is like a hurricane or typhoon, they’re just called different things depending on where they occur.
Oh we have earthquakes too. And volcanoes. Perks of living on the ring of fire. We have no dangerous animals really though so it balances out I guess? Haha
Ok, I was wondering what show you were referring to since it was mentioned here. I didn’t realize they were in NZ this time. Probably not what they were expecting 😑
You better be careful or those wild koalas will get you!! Hahahaha.
OMG!! This is terrifying. Hahaha. The idea of some crazy carnivorous koala dropping down on your head and attacking you is freaky!! Haha. So glad this isn’t real.
And then there’s Denmark. Where the nature is calm and not even wild anymore. Although wolves have been spotted a few times the past years, so maybe the wild is on the way back lol.
Well there were lots. And there’s bears and moose and the like in Scandinavia and Russia. The wolf hasn’t been doing so well I don’t think, though it’s cool they’ve been seen DK
Wolves, bears, boars, moose, and I think even some big cats are all still living wild in various parts of Europe, like @sicarius said. In Scandinavia we’ve got plenty of bigger wild animals, just not that many in DK anymore, maybe because all our forests are “cultured” aka planted and kept, not wild-growing. Germany, other mountainous countries and Eastern Europe has plenty too. And if you count Greenland, DK actually has polar bears haha ๐
@sicarius, As far as I know the wolf is doing okay in Eastern Europe? Other than that all I know is that they are still in Germany and starting to cross over to us and that they’re in the mountainous regions of Scandinavia. Now I want to go research haha.
I’m from the States so wild animals be everywhere- even where they are not wanted. It isn’t unheard of to hear stories of mountain lions seen in peoples backyards – in the city!
Obviously wild animals still abound in Europe, but I always picture Europe as this highly cultured metropolis where wild animals are a footnote. Tourists visit to see old buildings and art, not to go on a safari. Hahahahaha.
LOL! To be fair I don’t think anyone goes on “safari” in Europe. Most people never see these kind of animals in the wild. I’ve seen plenty of deer and stuff, but not any dangerous animals or anything (except for at the zoo haha). They mostly live where people don’t go a whole lot.
I was gonna mention that there are tigers and leopards in Russia but probably not quite the ‘Europe’ side of Russia idk haha
And then you have the Eurasian Lynx and Wolverines of course.
@kaybee I don’t know, my info might be out of date, or wrong, it was just a kernel of a memory I heard that somewhere in Europe they wanted to get rid of all the wolves because of threats to livestock and humans and I was like NOOO DON’T DO THAT
Do share when you’ve done the research I probably should’ve done first haha
I think the problem with wolves in Europe is that some places they don’t have enough to eat, meaning they become extra dangerous and also start taking the kept animals. Don’t think it’s a problem everywhere though, there are still some really deep forests and uninhabited mountain ranges and stuff where they wouldn’t pose much of a threat and would have enough to eat. Wolves are one of my favorite animals, but tbh I’d rather not meet them while taking a walk haha.
LOL that’s not what I meant ๐ Just meant that you peaked my curiousity and I realized I actually don’t know enough about this.
Yes, you hear more of the big cats etc. coming from areas closer to Asia. Plus, Russia has A LOT of land free of people where animals can still roam free.
Yeah Europe is heavily populated so that’s probably part of it for sure. I know they still lurk in places like you say though. It’s kinda weird for me to think about cos NZ has NOTHING like that, so if I lived in EU I’d probably know all about Wolves and the like, but because I don’t it’s almost like ‘wolves are real right, in the wild, what a strange concept outside of a book'< obviously I'm not that ignorant it's just different haha
Oh they are beautiful animals indeed. Yeah, kinda like mountain lions, awesome, but idk if I'd actually want to meet one, alone, potentially unarmed, in the middle of no where…
HAHAHA And here was me thinking you were gonna go look it up immediately… nevermind then haha ๐
This conversation has only proven that I am woefully uneducated when it comes to nature outside of the US. All I learned on animals I got from the zoo and the like.
Pfffffttttt ๐ See, that’s why NZ needs more zoos (except I sort of don’t like most zoos, cause they be wild animals, but they do serve a purpose)! You guys need it to know that wolves are real hahah.
Dude, it be almost midnight here. Of course I’m not gonna look it up right now kkkkk ๐
It’s not even midnight, turns out it’s now almost half past 1 in the night lol. And I’ve done way weirder things at midnight, just way too tired for that right now hehe

Hahaha we don’t have koalas in NZ, that’s Australia, but there’s a joke in Australia regarding Drop Bears- which are fictional evil koalas ๐
