Boyish again for Marie Claire

Whoa, for a second I thought this was another cross-dressing pretty boy. After all, September’s Marie Claire features Yoon Eun-hye looking an awful lot like Lee Junki, no?

Give the girl credit where it’s due: she sure embraces style experimentation and change in a fashion-forward and often fearless way. She recently spent a week in London, where she shot this particular spread — and was even recognized by Asian tourists.

Yoon reportedly conferred with the stylist to come up with the concept, and also helped find props for the shoot.

Woa I could barely recognize YEH. The make up totally change her.

She did quite a number of high fashion spreads and they were very nice.
I'm not so fond of this one.

A little scary. The main pic featured looked like something straight out of Rocky Horror Picture Show. She looked good in the one where she was sitting down though.

Whoa, very cool.

At least she's pushing the envelope in a tasteful and classy way. Sometimes if people aren't careful, they can go too far and appear clownish and silly.

Oh, is that really YEH? Looks like LJK to me!

Her other works are ok but am not digging this one...

Dramabeans, do you have any hostile to LJK?
Please don't just yap about someone who is never done anything to harm you.
What is "an awful lool like LJK"?
Please don't try to hurt his fans by some uneducated words of you.
Do you think you are perfect and have a right to evaluate someone?

^I think you're misunderstanding Dramabean's words. "An awful lot" like Jun ki is just an expression. It doesn't mean that Jun Ki is awful or anything so theres no need to be offended. :)

This is more freaky than high fashion. Not alot of people can pull off that kind of makeup (Jun Ki pulls it off surprisingly well despite the fact that he's a guy). Yoon Eun Hye just looks really bad in this shoot. The hand looks like its coming from no where. VERY creepy. Her lips look disgusting also.

LOL! Jun'fans, I mean no harm. Saying "an awful lot" is an idiomatic way of saying "very much." She looks an awful lot like Junki = she looks very much like Junki. (e.g., "awfully happy" = "extremely happy") There's no negative connotation to the term.

She does look like LJK. I dont understand. Is beeing a boy make her look chic or something? In my opinion, it just looks weird. Also, this is javabean's blog, so it is entirely his/her desire to say whatever he/she feels like it.

we were just discussing this at popseoul, but the comments there are a little more blunt...

personally, my response to this photo shoot is artsy & classy are fine...but i want her to stop channeling lee junki and liza minelli's love child...it also looks like she's taken too many collagen injections in her lips, which the bright fuschia lipstick doesn't help...the second photo doesn't even look like her, at least the one in the big bird suit is recognizable...

this is obviously not my favorite photo shoot from YEH...

Oh, my goodness, I did NOT recognize her at all in the first picture. When I first saw it, I was like, "What, another one?"
Yeah, she resembles LJK a lot in the first one, but i can sort of tell who she is in the other pictures...
And I thought that she was taking a huge break to grow out her hair. Why'd she cut it uber short again? O_o

@Malinda, completely agree with you.

It really bugs me seeing some one telling the blog owner what to do. It's plain ridiculous coming to some one house and asking the owner to abide/play by your book, just outrageous! Let alone Javabean didn't mean any harm with her commend.

Jun’fans, learn to read better next time before scolding some one else.

I actually like the pic. BUT she must not allow any more needles to get near her mouth...PRONTO! Seriously, whenever I see similar errors in judgment (prime candidates are Melanie Griffith and Choi Ji-woo), I always wonder where their friends, agent and PR person were at the time. *SIGH*

Yes, she looks very different. Even the bottom two pictures (she look kinda European aka she doesn't look Asian anymore). The top picture looks like an ad for nail polish...or mascara *shrugs*

I hated the first shot. She looks too boyish...

I think they should have opted for a different color for her lips. Hot pink makes her look like a drag queen. They should have instead chosen a pale shade of color for her lips or a dark luscious red to match her nails...

Do you people seriously f-ing think that Yoon Eun Hye needs any help with the size of her lips?!! Good, god, folks...her puffy lips are her trademark! Don't let one photograph convince you that you think you know something that you obviously don't. How can you tell wear the model ends and the photo-enhancement takes over? For those of you who appear to be looking at Miss Yoon for the first time, try googling her image and try to find one of her with small lips. If this girl was the type that cared a single thing about changing her actual physical characteristics, wouldn't you think that she'd started with her teeth? "Needles", my ass!!

Obviously some of these people are out of their minds.
YEH has always been known for her thick lips.

And any girl who knows something about fashion knows about make up tricks on how to make the lips look fuller. GEEZUS!

I guess the make-up artist did an artistic makeover to transform or should we say enhanced the features to look more outstanding or could change the physical contour of a person's face. I gave thumbs up to the make-up artis for his or her make-up concept to transform someone into another look !!!.

ahem in defense against accusations of mental insanity...

it's actually a known fact that YEH has had quite a good deal of plastic surgery...she's had her eyes & lips enhanced as well as having nose, cheek, & chin implants...there are before photos of her out there with smaller eyes, thinner lips, lower nose bridge, shorter chin, etc...

http://video.aol.com/video-detail/asianhollywood-stars-before-and-after/4193511015

i wouldn't even have been able to recognize her...the features that are her "trademark" definitely aren't the ones she was born with...but hey at least she's made a name for herself with the looks she has now...

i don't mean to rain on anyone's parade for YEH fans...there's just no need to swear at strangers over the internet for expressing their opinion or pointing out the obvious...that and sometimes naivete when it comes to celebrities gets to me...

It's true that many stars have had surgery, but I don't find many of those pics convincing. You are totally right that you shouldn't get cussed out for thinking someone's had surgery. But when you tell other people they're being "naive" for ignoring the "obvious" it sounds like you're being just as insulting to people who don't agree with your opinion. Some stars surgeries are obvious, plus some have openly admitted it like Hwanhee or Ryeowon, and some I think are debatable.

For what it's worth, it looks like YEH had some work done, but I don't think her lips are one of them.

sorry about that...i don't mean to insult anyone at all...by stating the obvious i mean to refer to something that's common knowledge...and naivete simply to mean unquestioning trust...there doesn't necessarily have to be a negative connotation to those words...

either way you take it, it's probably better than being told i think i know something i obviously don't, am sprouting nonsense or am out of my mind ;)

Wow, I didn't even think that it's YEH.... lol she sure surprised me.

Anyway, whatever she did to her face it doesn't really matter since it's her choice. I sometimes wonder why dig into an actress's/actor's life, for all that I care is how the person can perform, when you can focus on his/her present? If a person is able to obtain beauty through plastic surgery and if one recognizes that it's pretty but at the same time saying that it's due to "surgery" and "fake" then isn't it hitting it both ways. I'm not saying everyone here I'm just saying that if a person isn't so pretty there is bound to be people talking about how "unattractive" he/she is but if that same person goes through much effort to obtain beauty, even though under the knife, then there is different opinions about it being fake and not natural. Yes it's part of his/her fault to be under pressure but seriously who isn't?

The way one lives, the way one acts, tries to succeed, or whatever that's occurring isn't it somewhat due to what society sets as standard?

The point is, chill.

^^

@marcel, I actually laugh at your so called evidence clip because it's made by antis who doctor the images. I also laugh because the before and after pictures dont even make sense coz alot of them are taken from different lighting, angle, makeup and etc.
Sorry to burst your little bubble, but unless the celebrity actually admits it, your so called little evidence is pure say so.
People do change, some can change as they mature, some through weightloss, some through haircuts. You'd be very surprise what weightloss, age, confidence, a new haircut and modern makeup techniques can do to someone's face.

And why is it a big deal if say, she did get it?
Just an excuse for you to insult her? Still doesn't change the fact that she's an amazing model and a multi-awarded actress does it?

I wish I was as ugly as her, so that a famous fashion designer like Anna Molinari can praise me as much as she praised YEH .

oh my, the things that people say...LOL!

Such interesting discussion on this site.

Hail to Javabeans/Dramabeans for making substantial discussion/reviews for k-dramas. Kind of gets boring when one gets one-liner after one-liners on certain forums.

I find the collective response to YEH's Marie Claire interesting...generally negative...but interesting. I personally applaude YEH's daring to do something 'different/abstract'; as one can see by the general response, it is not well received (I imagine, at least, in everyday/Asian circles).

I've read comments like "she doesn't look Asian anymore" or the "lips!" (as mentioned before, smart lipstick application can make lips look bigger). The human mind zeros in on the novelities of facial features e.g. big lips, big forehead, tiny/large eyes, etc...skillful make-up actually takes advantage of this to make faces 'stand-out'. This Marie Claire shoot actually takes this to the extreme...which I actually find visually intriguing, and beautiful in an 'alien' type of way.

It also depends on the target audience. IMO, this shoot may very well likely be aimed at a more high class, chic, European culture...maybe even educated in a way, or immersed in a culture that celebrates this type of style.

I believe in respecting freedom of opinion, but, I think it also important to consider an objective viewpoint of what YEH is trying to do here. I do understand that it depends on where one is coming from...I'm a 'rogue' artist myself, so make it a habitat to look for the beauty in all forms of art.
