Jang Dong-gun’s Warrior’s Way out in December
by | September 21, 2010 | 18 Comments

Jang Dong-gun‘s Hollywood debut project, The Warrior’s Way, has finally gotten a release date: It’ll open in both Korea and the U.S. on December 3.

Formerly titled Laundry Warrior, the fantasy-Western action movie has been in the works for a while now, but with no word of an official release; Jang has even filmed and released one movie since shooting Warrior’s Way (Jang Jin’s Good Morning, President). The preview was released last year (watch here) and the release has been pushed back at least once, so it’s a good thing it’s finally fixed a date.

The film, which boasts lots of action and CG effects, stars Kate Bosworth and Geoffry Rush, while Jang plays a warrior who comes to an out-of-the-way village at the end of a desert.

So I watched the trailer for the first time using the link you provided, and just as I feared, I cringed at JDG’s english.

The english isn’t the problem, is this movie a comedy or a serious drama?

Maybe it’s the voice over, but for some reason this movie seams weird.

JDG’s English? At least he has an excuse. What’s up with the Southern accents? What state are they from, TrailerParkLandia? I mean, really. Just ’cause you talk slow and use funny vowels, don’t mean you know how to talk with a Southern accent… sheesh. Almost as bad as Bill and Sookie’s accent on True Blood.

        Oh snap! :)

          Haha! My thoughts exactly.

    Reasons to watch:
    Jang Dong Gun
    Geoffry Rush

    Reasons Not to Watch:
    Kate Bosworth
    JDG’s outfit
    The title
    Fantasy-western?

I might watch it out of curiosity, but I’m seriously hating on Kate Bosworth right now (mostly out of jealousy since I heard she was dating my hubby Alexander Skarsgard)!

Actually, I think his English sounds terrific – not stilted as it usually does when spoken by a non-native speaker just reciting the words.

I liked what I saw, but I’m not a big fan of so much cg work. I’ll see it in L.A. at the Arclight. It needs a big theatre!

Still going to watch it in the theatre, regardless of the chatter about what’s wrong with the film. :) Can’t wait until December!

I think this would make a cool movie if it had a video game premise (i.e. Resident Evil)….but I have a hard time buying this the story as a standalone.

    Awaiting the viewing from home…..

Oh sorry JDG, western movie is just not my thing. As much as I’d like to watch him in a movie, I couldn’t even get through the trailer. Still <3 JDG nonetheless.

oooo :) The movie’s also being produced by the same guy who produced Lord of the Rings! GO NEW ZEALAND :)

Laundry warrior? Seriously? LOL! Glad they changed the title to something that’s more kick ass. This is one of the three Asian martial arts movies I’m really looking forward to this year. The other two being Reign of Assassins and Detective Dee. :)
