Min Hyo-rin as a flower girl for Vogue Girl
by | December 17, 2010 | 31 Comments

I am in LOVE with this photo shoot. Granted, Min Hyo-rin hardly ever looks bad, but this photo spread for Vogue Girl is gorgeous. Love the bold colors, the makeup, and the sense of whimsy. And the freckles!

I also appreciate the contrast between the top two, which have a more cultivated, polished style sense, and the bottom two, which use wildflowers to evoke a more earthy/natural vibe. My particular favorite shot has got to be the third, both because of and despite the red juice running down her arm that brings to mind blood imagery. It’s the slight off-ness about the shot — mussed lipstick, juice streaks, stained shirt — that makes it appealing to me; perfection is boring, but slight imperfection captivates the eye.

I’ll admit to having been very indifferent to Min Hyo-rin in the past (back when she was known more for her shapely nose than for her work as a pop singer), but what a difference one role can make! After she lit up the screen as bubbly, sprightly Haru in Triple, I’ve been a fan. It doesn’t hurt that her youthful romance with Song Joong-ki was beyond adorable in that drama; watching them flirt and bicker together was like watching puppies frolicking.

Min Hyo-rin’s current projects include short film Age of Milk airing on OCN, a feature film (her debut) with Sunny, and cable program Trend Report File on Mnet for which she is MC.

i am such a huge fan of these pictures
i love her eye makeup in the first picture the eyeliner is not winged its more giving of a whimsy girl flowery feel, if that makes sense?

  9. Natalie

    oh these are absolutely stunning!

Vogue Girl / Elle Girl Korea consistently produces editorials that blow Teen Vogue (which is complete trash now) and all the other Western teen magazines out of the water.

First the beautiful black princess gown/dress she wore at some awards night, and now this photoshoot. I’m officially jealous. Hehe. She’s so pretty in the above pics, and should totally thank her makeup artist or photographer or whoever made her look fairy-fantabulous!

Wow, that is a beautiful photoshoot. She is absolutely stunning, and I love how different the effect of each photo is. I think my favorites have to be the second and fourth ones.

OH. OH OH OH. Oh man, that fourth one is gorgeous. I want to blow it up into a poster. :O (Very partial to that particular shade of green on her eyes..)

I agree, I’ve also been a fan ever since Triple. Makes me wish she would do another drama or three so I can squeal about her more often. :D

I have a problem with Korean’s fashion editorials. I found them really REALLY BORING. Let me explain : they’ve got the right models (and they do amazing things in shooting actors), the clothes are good (though sometimes it gets out of control), pictures all good and all…but…but…They’re ALL the same. ALL the same. You’ve got: Models with heavy make up + White Background…and that’s it…

    Uhh…Frustrated…Where’s my italian vogue?

oh but come on-teen vogue always always has girls jumping, neon bits here and there, and girls with neon makeup against a white background. Similar concept in Vogue girl, except it highlights what appeals to korean teenage girls.

But the higher end mags. I understand…Korea is lacking in the creative aspect of high fashion, but its growing…and its not like Korea had even 50 years to grow in the fashion world.
I think you need to have more consideration

STUNNING! those last 2 pictures give me an idea of what Thumbelina might have looked like, if she were a sassy, flirty, earthy kind of pixie flower girl. :D <3 <3 <3

I just had to check out Triple and skim thru all 16 episodes (with the help of your recaps) to find the scenes of her and Song Joong-Ki.

    FREAKIN’ CUTE, OMGAAAAAD
In just a few hours, they are now on my top list of favorite onscreen romances.

    Pretty Hyorin-shi!!

I just started watching Triple last night. I slept at 4am because I couldn’t stop, obviously. I’m at Episode 7 and the drama is just soooo good. I love the relationship between Haru and her stepbrother. I cried so many times already because I was beyond touched by their moments. And of course, the other two Oppas. And her blooming romance with Song Joongki! Perfect!

    (off to continue watching…:))

Triple is a real gem. I’m so happy that there are still people finding out about it. Haru + Hwal moments = real platonic sort of love.

    • 23.2 bd

      Really?

Triple was just horrible (pretty much nothing ever happened and the premise/relationship angles were totally unbelievable) – and I really wanted to like it.

  24. 24 more

I loved her acting in TRIPLE she hit just the right balance. Im looking forward to her next drama.

  25. 25 asianromance

I actually like Min Hyo-rin because she can look plain to me sometimes and other times, absolutely gorgeous (though mostly, she looks gorgeous)!

i like the first pic the best because of the curly eyelash! it really makes her look like some sort of forest fairy!b

  26. 26 Jane

Love the bottom two, the third one looks like a scene from “Goblin Market” …

  27. 27 SadieStarr

    omgsh i love it
