Eric up for Myung-wol the Spy

According to new reports, Eric is currently the top contender for the new drama Myung-wol the Spy, which means we oughtta put those lingering Poseidon hopes to bed now. It just ain’t happening.
At first I was a little disappointed that the much-beleaguered Poseidon is dead — Eric and Kim Kang-woo as rivals and teammates in a counterterrorism unit? On the sea? (Read: lots of ripped bodies getting wet.) That’s a no-brainer — but then I recalled the plot of Myung-wol the Spy, and I’m back to excited.
If you’ll recall, Myung-wol is about a North Korean spy (Han Ye-seul) who infiltrates South Korea with her spy colleague and possible love interest (Lee Jin-wook)…who then falls in love with a Hallyu star. (That would be Eric.) How perfect is that?
After initial reports broke naming Eric to the cast, his reps hastened to counter with statements that he’s “favorably considering” the role, but hasn’t decided yet. The fact that they’re not denying it gives me hope that the deal is close to being struck — it would have to be, with the drama needing a leading man and scheduled to premiere on July 4.
The drama’s described as a fun romance, which is GREAT, because I was hoping it would skew light-hearted rather than aiming to be IRIS: The Romance Files. Plus, there’s a little something offbeat about both Han Ye-seul and Eric — they’re not quite 4-D personalities, maybe more like 3-and-a-half-D — and I think together, they’d be wacky and hilarious. Man, I’d pay money to see them speaking Konglish together. Hee!
Myung-wol the Spy will replace Baby-Faced Beauty on Mondays and Tuesdays on KBS.

konglish = using English words in daily (Korean) conversation. Like... have you've ever listened to a Kpop song and noticed that they always have some English mixed in there? That's Konglishhhhhh

I grew up with Chinglish myself (Chinese + English), which usually confused my parents but always made perfect sense to fellow chinglish-ers (i.e. lil sis). Haha

Like what previous comments said, it's mixing English words with normal Korean sentences.
I grew up with Taglish (Tagalog + English). It happens a lot with bilingual people. There's a tendency to mix two languages together in everyday conversations. :)

I seriously loved Han Ye Seul in Fantasy Couple (Oh Ji Ho... not so much, although he was fun to look at). I have only seen Eric in Que Sera Sera, where he was good but hard to watch (just because of who the character was). I think they could be great together, and this sounds like a ton of fun!

If you google Shinhwa's wild photobook, you can see almost all of him! haha
Although Top Class issued a statement after this news broke, stating that they are still waiting for Poseidon and that he had not accepted this role, both are good choices for him. I am just ready to see him on screen.

Haha...means a lotta sleepless nights for me then in June though I'm already getting there with romance town/city hunter/baby-faced beauty/best love/lie to me...and just finished 49 days last night ;) and now to add on board these wonderful guys! not that i'm complaining...

YES!! I've been hankering to see Eric-hubby on screen again since his military release. Now that Poseidon tanked, i hope Eric would move on. I miss him. :(

I will forever love Eric for Que Sera Sera. He did such a wonderful job with that drama. I want him to snatch a good leading role soon. :)
Han Ye Seul... Dunno much about her except that she's gorgeous. WISFC didn't really pull me in. But I'll be holding out ofr her.

I feel the same way about Eric in Que Sera Sera. I will always love him for that role, as imperfect a character that he was.

Yeah, I recently rewatched Que Sera Sera and am addicted to it which has left me craving for Eric in another meaty role. But with Han Ye-seul...yikes! That doesn't leave me hopeful...

Ooo, same here. Just finished watching Que Sera Sera and he did such a great job in it. Did he win an award for it? I know he did for Super Rookie, which I also enjoyed, but QSS especially displayed his acting talent.

Oh JV, just seeing that ERIC will be filming a new drama made me so excited, I hope he takes this role than posiedon cause it seems more promising.

Ok, good to get that off my chest because I like the name and from I first heard the plot I was sold. I've never seen Eric in anything (still kinda new to dramaland)so I can't comment much on his addition, but some news about this drama makes me happy. For some reason KBS2 dramas normally draw me in...this one will hopefully not disappoint.

Thank godness you have a good vibe that Eric will take this one too. Even though his management are cautious not to confirm him taking this drama, but what they said before that are quite positive.....
I really like Han Ye Seul as the snobby Anna in Couple of Troubles. Absolutely love her quirkiness & spunk. I hope this Myung Wol the Spy will be more on a comedic side, since it's right up Ye Seul's & Eric's alley
