Vampire Prosecutor’s non-vampire prosecutor

Upcoming drama Vampire Prosecutor has its lead actress, and it’s Baker King Kim Tak-gu’s Lee Young-ah, who joins lead actor/hero/vampire Yeon Jung-hoon in the cable series.

Yeon plays a prosecutor who becomes a vampire and has to hide his secret identity from others, while using his special vampire abilities to investigate crime and root out societal evils. So it’s like City Hunter meets Angel?

Omg, is this the drama girlfriday and I have been dreaming of? Alas, it very crucially lacks an Lee Min-ho, so I guess not quite. But still — there are a lot of ways in which City Hunter shared themes and similarities with Angel, although he wasn’t also the prosecutor in the secret-hero-fights-crime scenario. Lee Young-ah will be shedding her cute image to play a prosecutor in the special crimes team.

The drama airs on cable channel OCN, which was also home to the darkly stylized Yacha (which I hated, but thought was very well produced. The Spartacus-like orgy of blood-n-guts-n-sex just didn’t appeal to me). I suppose that means there’s a chance Vampire Prosecutor could also go dark, which would be fantastic. I haven’t gotten a handle on the tone the show’s going for so it may end up being cheesy as all get-out, but if it goes edgy, it could be something quite interesting.

Vampire Prosecutor will begin filming at the end of August, and plans to premiere at the end of September.

    Oh this will be totally awesome, though sometimes I’m iffy about lead parallels…I kinda, would’a preferred LYA to play another role other than a prosecutor.

    Still excited!

    Yay! I actually find cable dramas refreshing. I hope this one goes for a darker ambiance. To be honest, I’m a bit put-out from the seemingly never ending stream of rom-coms and have been craving something that goes a bit more sexy and dark. Cable seems like a good forum for the exploring new drama-themes.

    While I thought Yaksha (for the two episodes I saw) was bit too focused on glorifying violence and etc. It really was beautifully produced and the time and funds spent to produce it give me hope that the cable station(s) is/are focused on creating something other then the usual rom-com bickering with a slight plot-twist.

      What about the seemingly never-ending stream of vampires? XD If you want to go supernatural, there are so many different possiblities! Why always them? Because they’re so well known?

    I still can’t quite believe this plot. It might be the most painfully silly thing ever, but hey, maybe they’ll surprise me! I’ll definitely watch it to find out. :-)

    I’m curious as to what they’re going to do with the lead, because I don’t think I can stomach another broody, asshole vampire dude. Give me a Stefan Salvatore ANY. DAY. OF. THE. WEEK.

    Willing to give it a try. As much as I love my rom-coms after watching City Hunter and some mystically/fantasy type dramas this sounds interesting. Angel and Buffy were good vampire shows, if it can give off the same tone I think it will be a success. No Twilightness please :) .

    I definitely will watch this drama. I love vampire drama and I dun think it will be that boring. And I like the lead actor/actress too. I hoped that they will have great chemistry.
