Equator Man gets an extension

Looks like KBS has faith in those rising ratings for Equator Man, which recently moved into the top spot for Wednesday-Thursday dramas, because it’s getting an additional four episodes.

This brings its total count up to 24 episodes, which also pushes back the premiere of Bridal Mask two weeks. Hm, perhaps those are connected events, given that drama’s huge bus crash that killed one extra and injured 30 others. Bridal Mask’s production took a few days off from filming in the immediate aftermath, but has to get back to work pretty quickly to make its premiere (originally May 30). This buys them a little breathing room.

I suppose the accident may not be the primary reason for the extension, but it’s gotta be a consideration, which coincides nicely with Equator’s uptick in popularity. Speaking of which, interest has been heating up as the drama’s suspenseful thriller plotline really gets going and Uhm Tae-woong steps up to the revenge plate. Go, Equator Man, equate! Equate like the wind!

I've been following this drama, but have yet to find its charm other than the bromance between Uhm Tae Woong and lee jun hyuk. Hopefully the story does manage to pick up the pace.

Oh! Why do they do this to us?
It is so rarely a good thing for the viewers.
Only the money people benefit.
I don't need a streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetched plot, unless they ramp up all the romance and bromance.

Yee-urgh

I hate extensions too! I think the 2 episodes added to History of a Salaryman were a waste and provided nothing. Hopefully this is not the case and EM continues down the road it is going. Maybe 2 more episodes focusing on the romance would be nice!

So it's confirmed. KBS milking it for it's worth. The storyline is actually pretty much easy to extend by throwing in another revenge plot here and there, and the cost of filming this drama is relatively low. Let's hope the story does not appear too stretched out in the end.

It means more time for revenge. I can't wait to see those people suffer who destroyed Sonwu's life.

Is this one good? Is there any drama that has similarity with this one? I'm not a fan of both male actors, but I'm opened to any good dramas.

GOODNESS! I went into this drama because of Lee Joon Hyuk after watching him in City Hunter, City Hall, and I am Legend; after watching The Devil and Resurrection, I am now a fan of UhmForce (our affectionate nickname for Uhm Tae Woong). Similar dramas I can think of would be Resurrection and A Time Between Dog and Wolf! Neither focused solely on the romance but on the story itself.

really?! I loved the ending. It didn't end. Those are always my favorites. When we're left to think what will happen, could happen, would happen....because it happens...it goes on in drama land.....

maybe he's born to be a revenger (ha, is that a word?)

anw, sometimes I hate the fact that KBS World is so behind with drama and variety episodes. I try to balance between watching the drama and reading its recaps, but how am I supposed to do those things simultaneously if the airing episodes is so far behind the recaps. It's no fun if you read the recaps first then watch the drama later.
This week's Equator Man on KBSW is episodes 3&4. Gah, we're so far far behind. I can't stand it! I'm so tempted to read the recaps, and seeing Lee jun-hyuk face on the posts doesn't help at all.

same here. but alas i cant resist reading the recap, and it kinda take away the fun in watching. tho i can always d/load or watch online, sometimes it's fun having to follow it on TV, like the good old days. =)

Extensions: almost always a bad thing, so, understandably, those of us enjoying Equator Man are not thrilled at the thought of ripping up what we like to cash in on better-than-expected ratings and the need to give Bridal Mask more operating room.

Uhm Tae Woong will keep selling the story, I'm sure. Equator Man is a nice enough little drama, but nothing is lifting it to the extraordinary level, which means it can easily be sunk by an extension. I think it's at the top of the ratings heap because it's not committing any major errors. Yet.

Hm, they could fill those four extra episodes by inserting more of Uhm Tae-woong's shirtless work-out scenes into each ep.

Just, you know, trying to help. *innocent*

With this type of complicated drama, I think that an extension could work more effectively than in a fluffy rom-com. Still, it depends on the skills of the writers.

I'm worried. I've really been enjoying EM lately, and the writing has always been my favorite part, but I don't think I have enough faith in the writer to trust that this extension won't hurt. Equator Man, please don't disappoint me!

How about a time jump BACK to the past - like to sageuk times? They could be rival princes or kings, and one of them could be a doctor.
That would be original.

This makes me nervous, but at least this means the finale won't overlap with K2H and RTP. There is so much of this a drama lover can take.

Le sigh~ I'm afraid of extensions. And 4 more at that! I hope it doesn't affect the storyline negatively. A plus for Bridal Mask, which could use some more time and also, this means all three dramas won't have their finale at the same time. EM might even get even more of a boost in ratings after RP and K2H end.

lol. Go Equator Man, equate away~!!

But an extension? I think I've got faith in the writers to keep the story going strong.

As much as I would love to see extra bro-moments in the extended episodes, I'd rather nor. Entension did nothing for HotS and I'm afraid it won't do anything for EM (although I'm Joping the show proves me wrong)

Extension just means more episodes where we see the characters coming put of the subway station, running, going to the bathroom, coming out of the bathroom, strutting the hallways etc. just like they did dor ji-won in ep 10
