Choi Min-soo joins Pride and Prejudice as cool-headed prosecutor

Choi Min-soo? As a prosecutor? You mean a mob boss undercover as a prosecutor, right? I had to read the story twice to make sure, but it seems to be fact — veteran badass Choi Min-soo (Sword and Flower, Happy Ending) will be joining the MBC legal drama Pride and Prejudice as an honest-to-goodness prosecutor. I know, he’s played good guys before, but he’s just rocker bad boy ajusshi to me. The drama has confirmed leads Choi Jin-hyuk (Fated To Love You) and Baek Jin-hee (Triangle) to headline, and will be entering shoots pretty much right away.

The legal drama from writer Lee Hyun-joo of School 2013 and PD Kim Jin-min of Time Between Dog and Wolf is about “law and order in the golden age of bad guys.” (I don’t actually know if it’s set in the past, or if that’s just a figure of speech for the emphasis on corruption.) It stars a group of prosecutors who go up against criminals who use people and love as weapons. In contrast to what we’d expect from the hero’s character description — he’s a sharp ace prosecutor who doesn’t mind the perks of the bureaucratic system — the core cast of prosecutors will actually form a ragtag team of “loser prosecutors.”

The heroine is an ex-cop with an investigator’s nose, known for her dogged pursuit of the truth, and Choi Min-soo will play a veteran prosecutor with a cool head. I expect their world to be filled with dirty cops, prosecutors, and politicians alike, so I like the idea of a group of loser prosecutors who occupy the lowest wrung on the ladder because they aren’t corruptible. That’s the kind of story I expect from the writer of School 2013, anyway.

Pride and Prejudice follows Records of a Night Watchman on Mondays and Tuesdays in October.

Choi Min Soo!!
Well I also didn't expect CMS to play good guy.

Why they don't stick to Lawless World title instead?

Apart from the title, this is shaping up to be interesting. I wish Daniel Choi had taken the role though. I find him to be a more nuanced actor than CJH. Plus I miss him.

Nice Johnny Depp impersonation? Actually, as bad as his movies have been lately, Johnny Depp might consider impersonating Choi Min Soo.

Yes that's him alright, the grasshopper-hunter feared even by Kim Jong Kook ?

Sidenote: still bummed by the fact that this isnt a remake of Jane Austen's classic masterpiece (come on, even The Three Musketeers can be made with a Korean spin), but since there will be two of my favorite Chois...
