Yeon Woo-jin goes up against Lee Seung-gi in Compatibility

I like how this movie’s cast is shaping up: Yeon Woo-jin (Divorce Lawyer in Love, Marriage Not Dating) is the latest addition to the upcoming fusion sageuk Compatibility, the fortune-telling royal romance starring Shim Eun-kyung (Cantabile Tomorrow) and Lee Seung-gi (You’re All Surrounded).

The film is the second in a trilogy from Jupiter Films following The Face Reader, which was about a fortuneteller who reads faces and inadvertently influences a political coup. Compatibility is about gung-hab, or the practice of reading a couple’s fortunes for their potential marital compatibility, and in the movie the practice will determine who gets to marry a princess. Directing is Hong Chang-pyo, who was the assistant director on Le Grand Chef and Portrait of a Beauty.

Shim Eun-kyung plays the princess who disagrees with the common practice of having her father select a husband based on compatibility fortunes, and sneaks out of the palace in an effort to find love on her own terms. Lee Seung-gi is the geeenius royal fortuneteller who is tasked with finding her the perfect husband, and will have to match her fate against four potential marriage candidates. And fall in love with her in the process, I’m guessing, which is quite the pickle.

Yeon Woo-jin has been cast to play the antagonist who gets in the leads’ way, though there isn’t much detail on whether he’s a romantic rival, a political one, or just a scary mofo who comes after them. Remember how scary he was in Arang and the Magistrate?

I do love it when he plays the villain (okay, so I like it when he plays the nice guy, or the haughty guy, or any guy really). He went straight from his last drama Divorce Lawyer in Love to the set of the sageuk comedy Kim Seon-dal with Yoo Seung-ho, where he plays a king. Reports say that Yeon has participated in a script reading for Compatibility, and is in final negotiations to sign on.

Compatibility plans to begin shoots later this year.

Where is Han Groo? I really hoped to see her in another drama this year and I was disappointed that she was pushed out of scholar who walks the night. I hope one day Woo Jin and Han Groo reunite in another drama, I loved marriage not dating so much ☺️❤️❤️. I hope this movie works out well for him because I really disliked divorce lawyer in love so much I dropped it and I never drop dramas.

I miss Han Groo too!

I also want them together in something again. Lol, really, I just want a Marriage Not Dating sequel. I've been rewatching it recently :) It's probably become one of my all-time favs.

Marriage not dating was one of the newly release drama that i watch without subs, then with 50-80% subs, then 100%. I even watch the previous episode while waiting for the next episode to come out the following day/week.

I only stuck with divorce lawyers bc of him.

Yeon Woo-jin has greatly impressed me in his roles. He can take a small role and add so much complexity. My favorite, however, is his role within Arang and the Magistrate. He was so interesting- tormented and sad, evil and yet…*sigh* I am not too terribly sold on the premise of this show, but my interest in having Yeon Woo-jin in it will make me watch it (at least for a little while) and give it a chance.

Don't fail me SHOW!

Pffft. Yessssss. His reaction is priceless!

No matter what, a part of me will probably always think of Yeon Woo-jin as Gong Ki-tae from now on.

I'm wondering what drives a person to make a negative comment? I like all the leads and this looks like a cool movie. (Since I don't live in Korea, I wish it were a tv drama.)

Ahhh, I love Yeon Woo Jin so much. I always feel rather tepid about movie news because that takes forever to be seen if at all but I hope it's a hit. And I hope he takes an awesome drama soon as well (after a good break, of course).

I was in the middle of watching Arang, but then decided to catch up on current dramas. Just went back to start watching it again, but its license has now been removed in my region on Viki. ?

I know it's on dramafever but I don't have a subscription and I generally dislike dramafever. :(

The movie will start filming soon and the only confirmed cast are those three? What is the production doing?
Anyway, I don't know this guy, but in SeungGi puppy and Shim Eun Kyung I trust, besides the story looks so promising.
